About sloped (?) runways

ok, you are awesome! I think that's your deal breaker. Now you're not interested in MSFS anymore, and you can go ahead with xplane

OFC I'm still interested in FS2020, just very disappointed that it seems to lack sloped runways.

Too bad, then I have to continue to read your critical "facts". But only you think that are "facts". It's frustrating!

Honestly sloped runways/airports is as important as proper flight dynamics. How does KCRW look like in FSX/P3d? I would hate to even think about it.

Yes, there are facts. The Youtube video is real, the screenshot is real.  Do you have any facts to counter my argument that FS2020 has no sloped runways? I don't think you do, otherwise what are they?

Try the "ignore user" option. Hover over the name of the user you wish to ignore and enjoy the newly found serenity 😊

I watched the video you posted and the runway looked flat as hell from about the same distance.

Watch the red lights at the far end of the runway disappear as the 777 gets close to the ground and then reappear as the 777 gets close to the turn off.  This clearly demonstrates the hump.

I know it's a rather hard concept to grasp but the absence of evidence suggests there are no sloped runways in FS2020.

Check out the "hump" in 25L towards the far end of the runway.

The "hump" does not exist in the FS2020 screenshot (runway on the far left).

We can conclude that FS2020 does not have sloped runways. Sorry to disappoint you all...

Honestly, I'm more concerned about the difference on lights (taxiways, tarmac floodlights) or custom illumination (blue/purple/whatever other color illuminates the  buildings inside the airports or in big cities, like those KLAX ones) than that supposed "hump".

But honestly, I see slopes on the airport located right to KLAX (Hawthorne Municipal Airport). Those ondulations seems different to a flat runway.

MatthewS, I don't think anyone in this forum isn't fully aware of your opinion on whether there will be sloped runways in MSFS. Please understand they have every right to their opinion just as you do. Please don't argue with each one. You've said your piece, now let them say theirs without argument.

I am of the belief that none of will know for sure until we see more from Microsoft. Until then everything up to that point is mere speculation. When they either confirm or deny then we will all know.

Thank you.

Rick

All right, here's some more fuel for discussion. This is a closeup crop from the original MSFS announcement trailer, appears to be short final at Courchevel Altiport:

Here's a reverse angle view of the real thing from Wiki:

It appears to me that the in-game MSFS trailer is showing a sloped runway. The clue is the way the paved apron area at the end of the runway appears level from the cockpit perspective. Or it would be level if the aircraft didn't have a slight bank angle.

What I can't tell from the screen shot is whether the runway is actually contoured like the real thing, or just a tilted (sloped) flat plane. I imagine there must be some countouring or you couldn't make the transition to the apron.

And again, this tells us nothing about whether this is a standard, worldwide feature in the mesh/runway interface, or whether it's hand-created at each individual airport. At any rate, I think that yeah, at least this one image is showing a sloped (if not contoured) runway.

I'm not arguing. I'm presenting evidence to back up my assertion, they however present no evidence to back up theirs.

Looks hand-crafted custom scenery.  I'm talking about the 20,000+ "generic" airports that will populate the world of FS2020, the vast majority of which have some degree of "slope" or "undulation" in the real world.

With respect, I think you're moving the goalposts here. This is what you said just 3 hours ago:

So we've moved from MSFS "has no sloped runways" to it might have them on hand-crafted custom scenery. I guess that's progress.

Look, I'm with you on thinking that the new MSFS won't be a state-of-the-art flight sim if it doesn't support this feature. X-Plane has had it for years, and it's a fun challenge, especially on these more out of the way strips. I just don't think we should be jumping to conclusions on such limited evidence. Let's wait and see if contoured (not sloped) runways are worldwide, or just in hand-crafted scenery. At least we have a hint that they're in the sim at all!

Notice I said AT THE SAME DISTANCE. You have to get a lot closer to notice it. Btw, someone already pointed out that the alignment of the lights suggests that the runway is indeed sloped at the far end.
