TrueSKY clouds would have killed performance also I don't think the Microsoft clouds are 100% light absorbant, almost like a pseudo version whiich gives a very convincing effect. Look at the rolling cloud video and you can see the base of some of the clouds are light not dark as they should be, maybe these clouds have lower density but it just looks off to me. Some of the more dramatic scenes also look fake as if they are mixing 2D images with 3D clouds in the foreground - that would make sense for an Xbox release further down the road. September 1, 20196 yr Check the camera and/or lens. There is too much excessive bloom effect. Does not look natural, especially the last one. Do not want FS to look like that. http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

Anyways more importantly will Max win tomorrow in Spa... LOL, I do hope they at least implement atmospheric conditions to base the sky color on, even if the values for the atmospheric conditions are just randomly picked. That will help make the sky look different each time instead of having the same colors over and over. Although I'm pretty sure the new clouds and lighting will help out a lot on this too. Max will probably either win or crash, I do hope it'll be the first 😉

That sunset does appear to be rather dramatic, but here are some pictures (iPhone) I took from a recent hiking trip along Oregon coast: If MFS can capture this type of sky at sunset in real time, they'll have a winner. But no doubt bring on-board the XBOX audience and keeping them is going to be a challenge. Cheers, Rob. Well once in a while the wind blows sand from the Sahara over Europe and that will help to create those deep orange 'Hollywoodian' sunsets, they are really awesome to observe and you imagine yourself in a movie. I could only imagine they have these sunsets in the desert all the time 🙂 Moisture and pollution in the atmosphere also greatly affect the color of the sky (especially at sunset and sunrise).

Dovetail's Flight Sim World had a clear performance hit switching between 2D and 3D clouds but my god it was worth it! Given than the resolution, detail, draw distance is much greater in the Microsoft screenshots then the old TrueSKY technology, then unless this has changed somewhat I would guess todays systems would struggle which is why I think perhaps something else is at play here. I might be wrong as the Ace Combat 7 trailer looked very very good but I still think this could be different tech.
September 1, 20196 yr If they implement good physics for sunsets then all will be good. The sky would be black if there were nothing in it. Its water vapor and dust that make it visible at all and at sunrise and sunset if there isnt a lot of 'stuff' in the sky then all you get is a little color near the sun as it sets and its usually more yellowish but as the visibility decreases and theres more 'stuff' in the air, the amount of the sky thats lit up (because of all the stuff) increases and the colors depend on how thick the stuff is and what the stuff is made of. Its affected by everything thats between the sun and your perspective. If they implement smog then cities should have some dramatic deep red sunsets. Clean air mountainous environments will probably have those sunsets with only a little color. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. If that means wearing sunglasses, then I'll gladly do it otherwise I'll change my course if I can to avoid flying into the sun. I'll be honest with you sh, 4K and HDR was probably the first thing MS wanted when defining requirements, it's an absolute cert. Better get those shades ready... 😂

I hope MSFS has controls for visual processing such as Bloom, Brightness, and Saturation like P3D does. In fact, I hope they have the ability to tune the visuals similar to PTA or Tomato Shade.
