This is an all new engine: Hdr lighting, Truesky clouds, high frame rates, smooth road traffic animations, great reflections and shadows and what looks to be Ray traced cockpits. No signs of the old warts. Absolutely nothing legacy in the graphics. http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

Please understand that some of us won't take your word for it just because you're a dev. You haven't even mentioned anything specific. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
August 30, 20196 yr Commercial Member I thinks wheels were more like Octagons back when FSX came out. Actually there's a lot of dynamics and physics surrounding wheels. If we expect mud or snow tracks to pull the wheels off line, hopefully they've put some effort into that. 🤸♂️ Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

August 30, 20196 yr Commercial Member DX10 grew into DX12 from research gathered when building technology for FSX and games around then. There will be aspects of how things are done to be found again simply because of inheritance. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 30, 20196 yr I’m not sure many people would doubt that this version shares dna with previous versions, even if it’s just some techniques. I am interested in what people have seen in these clips that suggests fsx code is being used. Genuinely interested.

There was some autopen pop-in (that could happen on any engine though) on the trailer and a river overlay that looked identical to FSX, although I haven't seen a river overlay like that since in all the other videos. The lighting engine, autogen system itself, terrain engine, and atmospherics appear to have near zero connection to past ESP sims. Even if there's some old stuff under the hood, it's so different now as to still qualify as a new engine. Edited August 30, 20196 yr by bonchie

August 30, 20196 yr Moderator Am I the only one who remembers that ACES had been quietly working on the next iteration of the FS franchise for several years before their abrupt closure? Or that at least one team member was kept on the payroll for around six months to carefully archive all of their work to date? Or that contemporaneous with that development, parallel efforts for the next iteration of Train Sim was under development, and the stated goal was to have a common platform for both FS and TS? I would not be at all surprised if that archived work hasn't been unwrapped and put to good use. We have no idea just how long the new team at MS has been working on this project. Fr.
