Imaginesim KATL massive CTDs

Featured Replies

I've installed the new KATL version. First I used it with P3dv4.4, and yesterday I updated to P3d4.5.

Things haven't changed I'm afraid. On approach Rwy 26L to KATL I usually get 2 CTDs. The first when I'm near the airport  flying the left downwind leg at about 8000ft, the next when I'm facing the airport at about 3000ft.

Before I did e.g. a flight from KATL to KMSY (maddog, LatinVFR) or KATL to KLAS (CS757, Flytampa) without any problems. The CTDs only occur flying back on approach to KATL. Does anyone have the same problems? Do you have any suggestions what could be done about it?

My system is quite good: Intel 5ghz, nvidia 1080 GTX; so I don't usually have any problems at all. Thanks for your advice.

Well, I will never buy anything anymore from ImagineSim unless it is the sole and only scenery for a place I absolutely want (such as Singapore currently is...). Why? Support is absolute below par compared to any other addon developer, things never get fixed. Does not help you, I know, but just that you do not think of getting any support by directly contacting ImagineSim with your issue...

Greetings, Chris

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

I have no problems with this scenery.  I've also had no problems with the other ImagineSim ones I use.  They absolutely at the very least need to create a forum like the others companies do.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I have to say that I've not an issue with this product yet. Follow the CTD guide here and let us know what kind of crash you're getting with which .dll

There seems to be a common thread that I’m seeing across PBR enabled airports: all of them have problems on arrival. FSDT KORD and ImagineSim WSSS and KATL all seem to have some combination of floating buildings, slow performance, and crashes.

None of these issue seem seem to happen on departure. Only arrival.

You can add FlyTampa's CYUL (Montreal) to that list...it's a PBR-enabled airport, and I arrived yesterday to find all the terminal windows floating about 50 feet in the air.

Which also happened to me at LatinVFR's SCEL a few weeks ago. Random parts of the building were up in the air, and the acrgo buildings were missing roofs entirely. Reloading at the airport caused the issues to disappear.

It's unclear to me whether there is an issue with the way developers are implementing PBR, or whether there is a basic issue in the sim that LM will need to fix... Whatever it is, I hope it gets fixed in v4.6.

About KORD

- The floating buildings issue it's a confirmed bug of the sim that happens with PBR but, since it affects only sceneries in .BGL format, we released a workaround for it 2 days after release, which uses our usual Couatl/Simconnect handling for the affected object, so it's not affected anymore. Same for the missing lights on arrival. Both issues has been fixed.

- The performance has been generally found to be very good and not worse of any comparable non-PBR scenery, provided recent hardware is used.

- Nobody ever reported crashes arriving at KORD so far.

Thank you.

Look like P3d team should be fixing the PBR bug....can't wait LM team to drop the latest and greatest update/release.

Always impressed by you Virtuali - you are always on top of things.

Wow!  I am preparing a new system build so that I can finally adopt P3D and I thought CTD's were done away with now!  Ears now on high alert!

Thanks for your comments. I finally switched off PBR via Imaginesims's opscenter. Then I tried a new flight from Drzewiecky's KORD to KATL. Everything went fine until I got near KATL. CTD again. So I switched all the options in the opscenter off. And restarted the saved flight from TOD. And again a CTD. Does the opscenter do its job? Following this I restarted another flight from TOD to CYYC. No problem.

I hope that Imaginesim reads this forum and can give us an update.
