2160*2160 per eye which is 4320*2160 almost 4K..

That would only be true if you were looking at the displays side-by-side with different things on them. In VR, one is superimposed on the other so the effective resolution is still 2160x2160 (and then stretched laterally by the lenses).

On which headsets?

Re:  performance

Everyone please listen to the audio interviews with the devs.  The new sim is VERY performant and not even optimized yet, let alone close to done.

Nothing I've seen before seemed adequate resolution wise.  The motion sickness issue is probably more me than any hardware, but having tried rift versions before I can say low FPS made things worse for me.

There's also the slight problem that I wear glasses, and I suspect there aren't many VR headsets that would accommodate my specs...

However the biggest and most unspoken barrier so far would be my wife if I actually spent that much on a headset!!!!  (I wouldn't be alive to use it :p)

I wear glasses as well. Go to thingaverse, sign up and get some adapters printed. I will be happy to assist you. Unfortunately I can’t assist with the wife, but you can hide the headset under the bed.. our secret. 😀

Thanks, but I don't think it's a goer for me right now.  Maybe sometime down the line when I've got over SWMBO's outrage over my 2080Ti purchase 😉

I wear glasses, too, so far under the ACER and it works .. sort of. But I am sure I'll get those special VR prescription glasses (https://vroptician.com/)  after switching to the Reverb.

Kind regards, Michael

If that HP headset has almost the same pixels as 4K I can see the roadblock. You'd probably need to sacrifice some major visuals in the sim or wait a few GPU generations to get acceptable VR performance. I guess I can call myself fortunate to have not been bitten by the VR bug, it's getting bigger, but not big enough yet I suspect.

You would be amazed that it runs arguably about the same as the Samsung Odyssey.  I have both. I don’t have to use anti-aliasing.

I love my Rift S, but I suppose everyone has their favorite based on functionality and cost. But the question is... if or when VR is implemented in Microsoft flight simulator,  what does it do? Is there a "tablet" built in for a zoomable map? Charts, airport and and weather information? What do you want?

I would still rather have Seasons be the #1 priority over VR as Seasons would benefit 100% of users while VR would only benefit a small majority!

Yes, you can bring in your PC windows in VR. And place them anywhere and resize. I use for maps and watching video for long flights. Very relaxing

If you look at flight simmers today most don't have the hardware that can run the sim for VR let alone the extra cost of the VR hardware,

Meh? Not always true. You always hear about the people that require the best and assume you need a monster. When I first tried,  I had an amd 4100 cpu and 8gb memory and gtx 1050 ti, and it was fine. I upgraded the cpu to an amd 8350 $64, and one more stick of memory $30, and I wont look back, oh, actually I can look back now. (Get it?)

Yep, you can, but maybe something more "built in" would be nice.

For instance, xplane missed the boat with that "tablet " and should have been a full EFB

Flight semi is a niche activity in itself. The VR community is more than likely much larger in their flightsim community. I think we should bring in more new blood into flightsims. Think of it as an untapped resource.

It is built in to the Windows platform. So there you go.
