There are no lit up windows in photogrammetry cities

Is it just a night texture then?

or what are they doing in those shots from this video?

Well tickle my donkey and call me Susan if that weather doesn’t look massively impressive. The dusk lighting looks particularly amazing in this “engyne” too!

only thing I’d hope to see be there in the final version is some skyscrapers where they’ve paid the electricity bill and are allowed to turn the lights on.

In the real world, you sometimes have these cloud formations or patterns which, if it wasn't reality, would make you think that looks totally unrealistic because they either look funny or just too perfect to be real. I saw some of those 'unrealistic' patterns in the clips from today's video. Absolutely stunning.

I feel like that one could use some explanation 😂

Nah, those buildings in the pic really aren't that bright (they are bright due to the camera exposure) and hope they are not like that in the sim. We already have the "glowing" buildings in P3D that have been around since the early FS days.  Many building lights actually appear pretty dim when you overfly a city...the overall street lighting, etc stands out more than somebody's office light that was left on.

I've flown over Qatar, Dubai, London quite a lot and always imagine the sky scrapers to be lit up like christmas trees.  But just took a look at some pics from my trip to dubai earlier this year and you appear to be right, the sky scrapers in the distance seem to look off just like the ones in sim, with a few exceptions.  So maybe it is more accurate like this:

I liked the quick look at a bit of the UI too - looks like they’ve done a good job there with the bits and pieces I’ve seen. I didn’t quite understand the weather bit at the end though, I think his accent may have been getting a bit thick - did he say that that view of Australia with the clouds over it is what you see in the menu?!,

He compared a picture from a real world weather imagery source to the obtained result in sim.

What a jaw-dropping cool episode. They must've been hiring wizards or something, to create something this beautiful.
About those sky scrapers, I found a few movies of real life night flights on youtube above Chicago and Seattle and didn't really see a lot of inside lighting there as well.

Lol, growing up watching too much of a bit of fry and Laurie and blackadder  probably

I think this is just the reaction to expect when actual first class modern studio talent and AAA money gets injected into our favorite hobby here.

We’ve been so conditioned to think the best we could do was adding on to the old old engines of the past..

Even the most ardent XP fan has to admit this has got to be opening some eyes at LR. Maybe not Austin - he has his money - but for the future they have a ton of work to do in order to stay relevant long term.

This sim has excited me to the point that I've developed anxiety about dying or getting sick before being able to experience it
