April 9, 20206 yr The Truesky clouds look good, as they also did in FSW, but neither P3D or the latter have integrated live weather, so my question is: have they been tested at all with a compatible dynamic live weather engine or are we just looking at P3D v5 static weather themes? Only then will we be able to judge if realistic depictions are indeed possible.

Has there been changes to how real-world weather is currently injected into the simulator from the current servers? By default, v5 does not offer real-world weather, however, our Software Development Kit (SDK) supports all the required interfaces to permit integration of real-world weather. We look forward to seeing what third parties create using our open architecture. https://fselite.net/originals/fselite-exclusive-interview-with-lockheed-martin-all-about-prepar3d-v5/

We know it's possible but has it been tried and were the results suitability convincing? Until Active Sky do their magic it's all theoretical, and that could be months away (but hopefully not).

April 9, 20206 yr Update: Fear not, excellent news. With the recent announcement of Prepar3D v5 coming soon, we wanted to provide an update on Active Sky development and our plans pertaining to this new upcoming simulator version. We have been, and are currently working hard on support for Prepar3D v5. As you know, Prepar3D v5 includes a new optional cloud visualization system using trueSKY. This system brings new technical and integration considerations, and requires further HiFi development that is in the works, but we are not yet able to provide firm time-lines. We anticipate having our first public version ready for beta shortly. Details will be provided on our website soon (https://hifisimtech.com), so please check back. https://forums.hifisimtech.com/threads/prepar3d-v5-information.11785/#post-52227 Edited April 9, 20206 yr by threegreen

April 9, 20206 yr From Nick - A2A "Hello guys, Now that the cat is out of the bag regarding Prepar3D v5 and the NDA has been lifted, just a quick word on the new version of the platform from A2A Simulations' perspective. The outlook for PC flight sims is especially exciting and fast-changing right now, so charting our future development priorities is quite a challenge. Version 5 of Prepar3D is just about to drop into the mixing pot and offers some promising performance improvements and a bunch of interesting features. Broadly speaking, our existing P3Dv4 aircraft already work pretty well in P3Dv5. However, there are a few features that currently aren't compatible. One of these is the dynamic windshield rain effect which will need updating for DirectX 12. As a result of the rendering changes in v5, we'll also have to make changes to some of the internal and external code, as well as to textures and aircraft models. This will be on a per product basis, as some are already showing they need more work than others. At the time of writing we don’t have access to the P3Dv5 release candidate and we need to make sure we've got our hands on a stable version of the sim before we make any changes along these lines. For that reason, we won’t have new installers for v5 ready on the launch day next week. However, if you already own Accu-Sim aircraft for P3Dv4 and you're keen to try them in the new version (which can easily be installed alongside v4) for the most part they should work as expected. You can simply copy and paste them into the add-ons folder for P3Dv5 or—if you wish to save disk space—you can alias to the existing files in the P3Dv4 add-ons folder. We'll provide a bit more info on this upon release. One last bit to clarify just in case anybody is wondering. As for previous versions of Prepar3D, any updates we provide for Accu-Sim aircraft for P3Dv5 will be free of charge if you already own the P3D version. Thanks, Nick" Great! Richard.
