Amazing update as usual. One thing I’d like to comment on is that the visual effects for lightening need to be made more realistic. The lightening flashes need to be visible for only a few split seconds and a single strike should flash multiple times. Some of lightening flashes which go off across the sky should also ‘grow’ as they street has across the sky.

All this work implementing realistic weather from Meteoblue and amazing weather graphics with volumetric clouds and icing effects should not be watered down (pun intended) with suboptimal implementation of lightening.

Even more surprised to find a golden ticket in my spam folder. What a beautiful morning!

Glad you are in, you deserve it more than most. Be a bulldog, my friend, there are enough cheerleaders anyway 😉 !

Apparently it does not at the moment, but it has been on the wish list of the Feedback Snapshot for quite some time now, so I think they'll get to it eventually.

It depends whether it only requires Simconnect (which is supported) or native support (which is not yet confirmed). It's in the top10 wishlist though.
I've asked TrackIR about it but never got a reply from them.

That´s a blowback for me, I don´t have the hatswitch in my yoke and after getting used to TrackIR I don´t want to use it anymore. I wonder why devs haven´t addet TrackIR support, but the Sim in alpha stage and there is still a long way to go before it is finished, so I´ll just wait and see. But it would be wery odd, if they don´t add TrackIR support. I´m not a huge fan of VR, I like to feel my controls and throttles. That´s why TrackIR is my solution

I strongly suggest to all of you to deploy a complete hardware monitoring solution for your sim rigs...

I use HWInfo & get very good results about in-game/sim performance.

Who uses VR with virtual controls? No one with a knack for realism.

You use your standard hardware instead of the motion controlers.

The weather in that Gibraltar video has been dialled up to 11 to illustrate the capabilities, I don't think any single element is unrealistic, but the combination of everything (long lasting lightning, low clouds, virga, lighting etc is (to me at least) more of a demonstration of the visual effects possible, rather than an accurate weather state.

You can get long lasting lightning like that, but it's quite rare.

The sea state in the Gibraltar video is magnificent, as is the way the lightning illuminates the rock!

TrackIR support has been requested frequently, so I think that it will be added eventually, perhaps not before launch though. It seems their approach is to not implement something if it's not fairly complete and working well. Back in the Global Preview event, it was said that ATC, AI and seasons were not in consideration for inclusion at release, but thanks to the community's feedback, they are here already. So you might not be able to play the simulator for some while, but TrackIR and VR support feels pretty much guaranteed at some point.

At the end of the video Meteo Blue state that they are happy to see their weather predictions in a simulated form for the first time. I can see a spin-off here. Imagine you are planning an outdoor event (sports, wedding, filming, etc.) and want to get an idea of what the weather/lighting will be like on your scheduled date and location. Just plug in the weather prediction, teleport to the appropriate location and wah lah! Perhaps Meteo Blue is getting more out of this collaboration than just an access payment? For instance, access to Azure computing and non-flight sim spin-off possibilities. There are more ways to get benefits than charging subscription fees.

One thing I’d say is that the lightning looks like slow motion.

This is my only complaint so far. I hope the lightning gets sped up much more. I also hope there is more than just cloud to ground lightning bolts. I feel like it's much more common to see lightning like this:

Yeah they let me in too for some reason. Maybe to see how the Mbps bounded can handle the download.

I am waiting until my wife tries to watch Netflix and the modem just explodes.

I feel like Oliver Twist, "Please sir, may I have some more [Mbps]..."
