In a nutshell, Asobo pleasantly acknowledged in the last update that there were working on their trees after some repeated insistence from this forum underlining height and misplacement issues in various shots and videos.  So all is good. The rest is forum chaff.

Loving hopping in archipelagos (Caribbean, Hawaii, Indonesia etc.) I really look forward to fly in the FS20 Caribbean 🙂.  OrbX OpenLC NA with a good mesh is an improvement over a rather bleak default but still not at the desirable level.   Perfection is not of this world but what we have seen so far generates mixed feeling. The islands mostly look good but the shallow tropical water or rather the lack thereof can be problematic. I was for instance disappointed to see the Keys as they are in the preview. 

There are testers from this region. I look forward to hear from them and who knows, see a video. Yeah thats you @Krakin

I'm gonna say it depends a lot on where you fly.  I've described back country flying as mind-boggling when I was exploring the Orinico River.  Flying down highway 15 from Las Vegas to Los Angeles is incredible, especially after stock P3D scenery.  I enjoyed the Caribbean, even with the trees, in an earlier Alpha.  Alaska is good in most places.  Most places are definitely thumbs up.  Some are less so.  I've seen enough green roads for them to become annoying.  🙂  

Any more and they'll take away my account and I won't be able to fly Microsoft Flight any more.  Oh wait... they took away Microsoft Flight years ago. 😄

Another weekly update thread seriously got hijacked by yet more pages of terse conversation with MatthewS about the bloody trees?  Man alive.

The fact that they are literally calling out these conversations IN THE UPDATE tells you they are fully aware of the conversation around the trees.  Whether it gets "fixed" on a timetable Matthew finds acceptable, is unknown at this time.  I'm sure they have lots of pressing issues they are working on in the twilight hours before release, and the height of the trees in Sydney might not be in the top five. Who can say.

If this is unacceptable, I strongly urge you to vote with your wallet and don't buy the sim.

Stop being rational, it’s been tried.  Our friend Matthew is obviously in some sort of obsessive state about the trees, and can’t let it go.  Like a Labrador retriever, if you throw the stick, he HAS to respond to it.  So throw him some sticks by saying the trees look fine to you, it will amuse him, and give him something to do til the 18th, and it will amuse us in the meantime.  Everybody wins.

This may be an unpopular thing to say, but I don't think he's all there is to the issue. The other part of the issue is that every time he drops a tree post a number of people keeps responding and arguing with him. His point is valid but he's gotten it across a long time ago and I think everyone else is agreeing about it being taken to the extreme now. Yet the reason why we've had another 5 or so pages filled with tree talk isn't entirely because of him dropping the obligatory tree post but just as much because others can't let it (or him) go either.

It's surely getting more tedious to filter and find the more interesting discussions on Avsim these days.

Or, put another way - people often complain about the timing of a set of traffic lights but neglect to think of the probability that changing that timing will mean dozens of other sets of light would likely need their timing altered as a result. Otherwise, that UK newspapers' favourite motoring term "chaos" would ensue.

Not unpopular with me. The mob mentality so prevalent in any social media including Avsim  more than Matthews valid but somewhat repetitive posts  explains  that these threads drift the way they do.

You're right when flying in real life if you come across a tree that is too high you should fly into it while cursing Asobo.
