Tried the "manual method" described with no success. Used instead the "fast, context-menu method" instead. That worked perfectly!

Many thanks for the assist! :)

@n4gix I have had that problem with power outages. (When not realizing UPS's batteries are old)

What I do is open an elevated command prompt and run:  chkdsk /f (on all drives), then sfc /scannow. If it still fails I use
DISM after I do a system backup/system image.

Things get stranger. For simplicity, I'll call my main dev computer "A", my old sim computer "B" and the new sim computer "C".

A can talk to B, but cannot "see or talk" to C at all.

B can talk to C with no problems.

Can "A" access "C" via IP address?

Sometimes with unexpected shutdowns some PC's mess up Network Discovery,  or worst revert to WORKGROUP domain/group. (Don't know why exactly!)
Which WIN versions are they running?
Perhaps this can help: Can’t See Other Computers on a Network?

My "WINDOWSAPPS" Folder is also located in:

C:\Users\Myname\AppData\Local\Microsoft

and...

My C:\Programs\WindowsApps (folder also says I don't have permission to open).

Wonder how we are supposed to add/modify 3rd party add-ons without access to this folder?  However, I would assume the Devs would have thought of this?

The WindowsApps folder will contain the core simulator file, and those should not be modified by end-users, which is probably why the access permissions are locked down by default. Add-ons will not reside here.

All content will be in a separate folder that can be located on any drive of your choosing. You will have the opportunity to select where the the content folder goes when the full installer is run for the first time. That folder will be freely accessible to anyone. After installation, there will be a sub folder called “Official” for Microsoft-created content, and “Community” for 3rd-party content.

AFAIK, this is standard for MS Store games

Thanks a lot for finally clarifying this.

You guys are working to hard download takeownership program

unzip the text file to your desktop double click it and it will hack your registry

How to use it - right mouse click on any folder and go to takeownership new command now listed

That said let the dos looking window that will pop up run do not stop it the larger the folder the more time it takes - you may not think its working on large content folders but it is it will pause periodically let it do its thing util you are sure its done

Does all the work for you

Dont do multiple folders to be safe  do one at a time - folders within that folder is fine you can do main folder - but dont choose program files folder and lets say windows folder and do them at the same time - to dangerous - I wouldnt do windows folders only programs you installed to be safe

Link to download FIXED - here is the file for it to work as I stated

https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/take_full_ownership_of_files_folders_registry_hack.html

EDIT - seems they changed it to an install program have to look into this use to be just a reg file you dump on desktop and double click it - always making things harder - dang

Go to the microsoft store and press check for updates in the top right hand corner menu

If there is nothing its possible your PC downloaded them automatically

How are you guys getting updates? I launched the Microsoft store and see no updates. How can you tell if you have the latest updates? I don't ever recall seeing no 1.03GB and certainly no 592MB updates.

This is what mine looks like:

Hmm larger than I thought downloaded in a minute - maybe they have some really fast servers now ? this is new machine just turned on so I know it wasnt doing anything in the background

Found this for moving files  also I think you have to have xbox insider installed but not sure
