August 13, 20205 yr Here's a hint: if you're expecting accurate ATC procedures, do not buy MSFS 2020. There, I solved your problem. (And we've known for at least 15 years that the default ATC gives wacky instructions and in hilly terrain vectors you straight into the side of a mountain. )

This is a bizarre take.. as the whole point is its a "simulation" that is supposed to be true to life, hence you want accuracy across the whole spectrum. If realism isn't a key feature then what's the point? ATC is an integral part of the experience for me and I find it odd in 2020 that with all the high tech fancy computing that's been boasted about in the sim, a realistic and accurate ATC is still beyond the wit of man to implement and a slapdash effort is apparently acceptable. August 13, 20205 yr You can't talk real-world ATC and bring in MSFS ATC and expect them to be identical. Therein lies a hideous road to pilot incapacitation, brought on by apoplectic rage caused by fury at lack of sim realism/ immersion. Real world ATC can be annoying enough without allowing pretend sim ATC getting to you. . . Edited August 13, 20205 yr by Will Fly For Cheese

August 13, 20205 yr I highly recommend watching the Twitch live stream with the developers that is ongoing right now. It will tell you a bit about the whole thinking and the design philosophy behind MSFS, and why it's quite ludicrous to expect getting 100% accurate ATC procedures in the sim out of the box.

August 13, 20205 yr Also FSX ATC gave you sometimes heights like 2700 ft and similar! And when its not corresponds to the real ATC, ok its a bug and can be fixed!

Not only ATC, but the whole "Flight Simulator" thingy. Seems many here are OK with a half baked cake too. In my case: Since the SubLogic Days, I do NOT compare simulators; with every iteration I expect a better simulator. MSFS looks great, but it is not there yet. August 13, 20205 yr The hemispheric rules only apply to cruising levels. ATC can full well assign an altitude -- at least in theory -- that isn't in agreement with one of them.
