On my end (3600, 16gb, 2070 Super, Installed on an HDD WD Black Caviar (OOS in my SSD). Playing at 2560x1440p. (An average System)

Terrain Vector Data: Ultra

Texture Resolution: Ultra

Texture Synthesis: Ultra

AF: 16x

Supersampling: 4x4

HDR10: ON

Everything else on High

Using Intelligent Standby Cleaner on the background.

RivaTunerStatistics (a well know app that takes 2 or 3 fps out)

I'm getting between 50/55 FPS (Non-Airliners), 40/45FPS (Airliners)

As every single simulator that i know (Iracing, Hell Let Loose, Arma3, P3D, Xplane, Squad, Post Scriptum,  etc) it needs tweaking here and there, its not going to work out of the box.

Could you show us a screenshot in the cockpit of an airliner at any of the major hub airports at 40-45fps?

I really don't like trying to discuss stutter issues with people over the internet. You will get people who literally have the same severe stutters as someone who's actively complaining about them saying things like "it's butter smooth on my end, I don't know what you guys are talking about." Sometimes people get stutters and don't "see" them just like some people absolutely insist that the human eye cannot perceive anything above 24/30/60 FPS. Case in point: content creators posting videos going on about how smooth the sims runs while I'm literally watching stutters with my own eyes.

This results in false datapoints being tossed around as someone who can notice the stutters is reading forums and such trying to find answers or dev response reads stuff like "but it's buttery smooth at higher settings than you're running and I have lower specs!"

Fact is there are no datapoints to be taken seriously unless we can see something like RTSS frametime graphs in relevant in-sim scenarios. Anything else is just pointless.

I myself run the sim on a 9900k/2080ti/32gb/1.5tb m.2 SSD system and it's very stuttery in any sort of dense urban area. It's basically fine in suburban or rural areas, especially in one of the more simplistic GA aircraft. Oh, forgot to add that I also have a 1 gigabit fiber connection to a 1 gigabit wired port.

Here's a good review from FSElite. Maybe objective enough.

MSFS 2020, DCS

Aside the fact that someone asking for an "objective" review instead of the many "positive" ones which he doesn't like leaves a bad taste in my mouth:

I don't have the final version yet, so I can't exclude something failed in the release version. However, I can tell you that I set my monitor to 50 Hz, limited fps to 25 fps in the NCP and MSFS was butter smooth throught the alpha/beta runs. This was on my system, see sig. You certainly could get 60/30 on a better system but mine was not able to hold the 30 THROUGHOUT and then stuttering started indeed, thus I settled to 50/25.

And yes, there was stuttering under certains occasions if I let fps freely float (which I am afraid some reviewers did).

But this is very much the same as I observe unter Prepar3d, and a lot of experienced users know about it.

Kind regards, Michael

To be honest, that's not a good thing and something a lot of people were hopeful could be avoided with the new sim, lol.

Content creators are recording, compressing, and uploading to Youtube. You can never judge stutters in that environment. You have to go try it yourself.

Why? Having synced fps to monitor Hz (or 1/2 of it) has been found benefitial since early fsx times and does make sense to me for any sim. But if you don't like it don't use it.

Set your expectations realistically. Its certainly a next gen sim, with visual details in default like never before. Clearly the coding is a whole lot better meant to take advantage of our hardware... finally.  It doesnt mean we suddenly get 60 fps in 4k stutter free in a major metropolitan area with a ton of AI happening at all ultra settings.  Theres lots of settings to play with. If your really on the fence, the gamepass to try it out is a no brainer.  See for yourself. Theres too much variance in systems out there hardware wise and software wise.  That little program in your system tray seemingly idle, could be the cause of a stutter.  Its not always the sims fault.  I'll write further on my thoughts when I get the release version very soon. But I'll say that P3Ds days are numbered.  Not right away but soon enough.

If Microsoft would send me a Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant and Thrustmaster pendulum pedals like they did with the streamers, I'd give 'em a totally objective review you wouldn't believe!

Yes it's a game people if it's not for you go back to your former Sim, stop bitching and do something about it by logging any issues with asobo

All i wished for FS20 was something like a pilot career where you grow as a pilot and have challenges and skills improvements, be checked and getting points on how you fly... You got the point.
Something simple would have been ok as well (Oh thanks Dan for FSPax...). I think something like this would have also attracted more "casual" gamers as well.
There is not, and i'm ok with that. No drama queen, i will just do not buy it tomorrow, hoping things i wish will get better with updates/addons.
I'm sure my life will be the same anyways.
Thanks everybody for your answers (off-topic and nonsense as well).
OP leaving, have a nice flight!
