I am enjoying reading the ranting here: https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/microsoft-flight-simulator/user-reviews, is sad but funny at the same time 😅

So let me summarize most of the negative comments :

1- boring, they thought is an arcade, it turns out is a sim not game.

2- Ranting about the installation problem.

Face flap 👀

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

I also read comments like:

  • Extremely addictive. Visually amazing, these truly are next-gen graphics. I just can't stop playing it. There are so many things to do and learn. This is a big, big game.
  • This game is near perfection.

So it isn't all bad. Most negative comments are from people who either haven't played a flightsim before or who have had too high expectations. Microsoft has some work to do to patch the installation proces for sure, and off course there are plenty of bugs in the software. It's complex and large so it probably containts thousands of bugs still. Being released prematurely IMO doesn't help, but at least we have many more beta testers now, at the cost of more negative commentary at first.

Flightsim rig:
CPU: AMD 5900x  | Mobo: MSI X570 MEG Unify | RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo | GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 | Storage: M.2 (2 & 4 TB) | PSU: Corsair RM850x | Case: Fractal Define 7 XL
Display: Acer Predator x34 3440x1440 | Speakers: Logitech Z906
Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

At least the negative reviews from casual gamers will give some morale boost to the MSFS haters here.

FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX

Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub

The console attention deprived kids will try it and move on back to Fortnite pretty quick which will be good for the Community.

Good to hear that you wish a large part of possible, future flightsim users to go forth and wander not to mention a not insignificant part of the income stream. 😐

Typo

Give people power to really test their personality.

Hmmm, that's actually not as bad as I thought it would get. With a lot of the negative reviews being installation and technical issues, it will probably be averaged out over time.

If the casual gamers think is a sim and the hardcore simmers think is a game, then we are caught in a blackhole 🤣

A hundred and fifty years ago man dreamed of flying machines that could cross seas.

Their descendants today view those dreams as wasteful mediocrity. We are a species easily bored and hardly impressed.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

most reviews are not really reviews, but opinion pieces, and as such very personal.

some love it, some hate it. a few inbetween.

most gamers nowadays lack common sense, so no use taking those reviews serious.

for me : in short, never ever had  such immersive flights.

big effort has gone into msfs2020

i was skeptical for start but i have to say although nothing is perfect in this world; there is a good base here to work on; need its time as all other sims - no exception here; base is solid.

They're more trouble than they're worth.

I see that the top review right now is from Avsim stalwart Jabloom, giving it 5/10:

A beautiful game that's a buggy flight simulator. I'll give it a chance, but it needs work. The Autopilot is a mess. The "live" weather isn't real time . The AI traffic is lacking. The user interface is bewildering and complicated. The default aircraft like the scenery, are stunning but don't match up in realism to those designed for XP11 and P3d5.. Don't expect good performance unless you own a recent PC with a high end GPU

Pretty much on point, isn't it.

Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

You really like your x-plane echo chamber don’t you...the writing is on the wall though, no matter how much you try and fight it on this forum...
