Info for people getting the heading bug/OBS/over sensitive trim issue with the Honeycomb.

Right now the only workaround is to completely remove control bindings from the toggle and magneto switches.

Thank you for the information. I just assumed that the increments of ten was simply how the simulation worked when using the scroll wheel, and single degree increments relied on clicking.

this is by far superior to xplane or p3d but yes it does have some issues that need fixing mainly the performance issues

There was no mention in the known issues about the Simconnect problem, nor the CPU utilization problem causing stuttering for many users regardless of settings or mega-high-end hardware. I got the impression from the terse update that the Asobo team is quite frustrated and baffled by a lot of this feedback, especially from very perplexed alpha/beta testers.

Yeah I've seen micro stutters no matter what settings I put the sim on and even if the fps is 60.

Kind regards,

Tim

As a very long term FS user and RW pilot I have very much enjoyed these threads. I have elected not to buy the sim yet...very much due to posts such as yours re: "micro-stutters." There have been posts in this thread and all other 2020 threads saying such thing as "works fine for me." But that's not data. The reader has no clue what such poster's standards might be.

Stutters were eventually a deal breaker for me several years ago because they were never really solved at the performance standards I required.

If I do get back "in the game" I expect to spend at least $3k for hardware controls and PC upgrades so the sim will have to achieve "virtually flawless" performance...at least at "medium" settings...or my significant expenditures will be a complete waste.

This is neither a "hater" nor "lover" post because I have neither of those emotions re" the sim. Rather, I am just watching and waiting...especially for new GPU generations that I understand to be immanent. So, I'll wait for you folks to buy and comment on the new GPUs and for the apparent controls hardware issues to settle down because I gave away nearly all my gear to a CFII buddy of mine would wanted to use it with IFR students.

So, I thank all posters...those with praise and complaints alike.

Best,

Jim

Hi Jim

It is definently working great for some people and I have had no stutters, occasionally a freeze for a few seconds for some reason but very rarely, it is a wise and logical move to hold off I just enjoy the challenge and it is great to practice vfr before real world flights, definently for me at least it's better than p3d and xplane which I have been using for years

Wise choice. Some of the gpu’s aren’t faring too badly, they’re being let down by the cpus quite a bit at the moment. It would be nice for asobo to work on pushing a dx12 update which might make more cores favourable but heaven knows how far away in the pipeline that is. If it is in the pipeline at all! I’d at least hope they might include more of the numerous technologies that aid in performance, like nvidias dlss, in the meantime.

which puts me in a similar boat to you except I have access to the base version through my other hobby - the gamepass.

The interesting thing is sometimes when I fly I don't notice any of the micro-stutters which leads me to believe it might be internet related too since it does need to download live Bing maps data.  But that's just a guess at this point.  I still think it's enjoyable to explore different locations.

Kind regards,

Tim

I get occasional stutters, but not the constant micro stutters of FSX which I could not eliminate no matter how much hardware I threw at it, or how many tweaks I made.  The FPS counter could say 30 in FPS, but it was never, ever smooth.  I notice stutters in 2020 when coming out of time accel in a new area as the scenery loads (I find going to external view and panning all around helps a ton) but they go away.  On my 3 year old PC it is not perfectly smooth, but it isn't that FSX micro-stutter that even now I would get.  The FPS counter doesn't tell the whole story, FSX never felt smooth no matter what "number" was displayed.  My FPS bounce between 20-40 in this sim, but I try to keep the FPS counter off and it feels smoother overall.  Not perfect, and I am really interested in upgrading to a monster processor and a 2080.

Use the Rivatuner Scanline Scale X/2 -1 fix for 30 FPS vert sync locked.

It is the ONLY WAY of getting smooth play at 30 FPS on a non-G-sync 60 Hz monitor.

Ensure Rolling and Fixed Cache system is OFF.

This system is NOT optimised and many see an improvement by disabling it.

in which option it will disable rolling and fixed catch system.help is really app,

It's off by default so if you haven't enabled it you don't have to do anything.
