August 25, 20205 yr I would like to read about any of you guys out there are having issues like me or similar issues regarding this new simulator. So i'm basically just venting because i can't do it on the MSF2020 Forum. This new Microsoft Simulator 2020 sucks big time. I am so very disappointed that i spend $120.00 for this right now. I should have waited till 2021 to buy it. Now don't get me wrong, I love the scenery. That is freaking amazing. But if you can't fly the planes right, the scenery is useless. I can fly the Cessna 172 pretty good. Why? Well because it flies slow. You have time to mess around with your mouse to flip switches and turn dials. But when you fly a jet like the CJ4 and you try and run everything in the plane, it's impossible with a mouse. See, in FSX Steam, i used my Saitek Switch Panel, Radio Panel, my Autopilot Panel and Cessna Trim Wheel to control most things in the cockpit. But we can't use these panels in the new sim. Microsoft says they are old and outdated. Well hell, what about these guys that have home made built cockpit simulators that use a lot of these panels. Now they can't use MFS2020 because all there panels wont work. 😮 This is one thing i'm upset about. Not only that, but i can't seem to fly the Citation CJ4 and the TBM 930 because trying to use the autopilot systems in these planes is a joke. 😞 Man i setup the autopilot in these planes and they don't really do things right. Then when i disconnect the autopilot just to fly the plane by hand, it's all over the place. It still keeps trying to keep the same altitude i had it set too when the autopilot was engaged. I can't fly these planes with the autopilot off. It's crazy. I'm so disappointed. Then i own a Saitek Cessna Trim Wheel. Well the new sim don't support it so i can't use that. And i wasn't able to set up my electric trim on the yoke at all right. And here is another issue i didn't like. If you're taking off on a runway and i just barely move my rudder pedals to try and keep the plane straight, just a millimeter movement throws the whole plane around like i'm pushing the rudder pedals back and fourth really hard. The planes just don't seem to fly right. I've been flying with FSX Steam since 2014 and finally got it setup to fly pretty darn nice. 2020 doesn't come close to the real physics of the FSX planes. I don't know. This is just a few of the issues i'm having with it. 😞 So, i've decided to uninstall the new sim for now and try X-Plane 11. I can buy some Scenery from ORBX and a few planes i like to fly and try it. 😄 My best friend uses X-Plane, and has his whole life and will never switch to a different simulator. He swears by it. And again, maybe in January i'll look into the new MFS2020 and see if it's any better and maybe by then someone out there will create a plug-in to use the switch panels and my trim wheel. I hope. Well thanks for taking your time to read my complaints. 🙂 I can't vent to Microsoft about this so i had to do it here. I hope you guys have better luck with the new sim. I just know it's not for me right now. 😞 Thanks all. Have a nice day. '

August 25, 20205 yr Should have just spent $60 on standard like I did and fly VFR in the Cessnas until the other planes improve, or 3rd party planes become available. I'm really enjoying VFR. Edited August 25, 20205 yr by NightOfDreams

August 25, 20205 yr Could have also spent one dollar on a first month of Game Pass and tried it before wasting that much money.
August 25, 20205 yr You're not a serious flight simmer until you've wasted at least $1000. 😀 Barry Friedman

August 25, 20205 yr I feel for the team. The timeline for winter release was on schedule, the alpha builds were progressing but it seem like things changed back in June when I assume the MS suits stepped and decided to release before it was ready. Now the team has to play catch up and endure relentless criticism which I personally think is unfair. My hope is the team can provide updates to address the major issues sooner rather than later.

August 25, 20205 yr EmoJim, Reading your post was fairly painful for me mainly because I am enjoying my experience so much. It did not start off well though (see below) ALL my Saitek hardware works. Yoke, two throttle quadrants, trim wheel and rudders. The trim wheel is not recognized but it IS configurable. Setting up controls for all of them was a nightmare and very non-intuitive. However, AVSIM respondents have solved 99 percent of those problems for me, and I am now very happy with MSFS. I have stated before that I would leave this sim alone whilst continuing to fly P3D and XPlane and just visiting MSFS checking on its progress. In the end, I could not help myself and I blundered on. I discovered that most of my problems was due to not understanding most of the control set up. However I persisted and the rewards are incredible. I would suggest that instead of spreading the negativity, everybody should use the forum to gain some understanding of the sim and then resolving their issues. Despite the negativity, IMO this is a great sim as is, and once the 3PDs get stuck into it fully, it will be so very much better. What I am saying, I guess, is that, if you can sort it all out gradually, you are going to be so much more prepared once addons become prevalent (and they will) If you don't now, you will have to go through exactly the same process when, as you say, "not right now" expires. I would also suggest that your best friend, whilst enjoying XPlane and will never change simulators, is clearly exhibiting a closed mind and closed minds never see anything better. The upshot is that "better" is always out there and may be closer than one could imagine. To my mind, it is not a great policy. Potential is the key word here, but we still have a sim (once sorted out) that is incredibly enjoyable. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard.
