Weather MSFS 2020

Featured Replies

I am really enjoying flying to different places in the variety of GA aircraft.   I do wish this weather would be a priority in the next update, because the last two flights I have had the ATIS says heavy rain, and it ain't doing squat.   Clear skys partly cloudy.

May install P3Dv4.5 on my other drive until they get MSFS figured out.

Are you absolutely certain live weather was selected, it defaults back to preset after a flight. I've never really had an issue with weather anywhere i've flown as yet when making sure live weather was selected, it's always matched the real life situation pretty well. It's the winds that have caused issues in some locations.

in my case, when loading a flight from the map, the weather is always in user defined mode - you have to set it to live every time. if you are not careful, you always have the same weather. so set the weather and traffic correctly (live mode) and then select the airport !
cheers !

I will experiment with this.  I didn't realize it defaulted back to the preset from the previous flight.

Thanks!

Is there no way to "preset" Live WX on a permanent basis.

I noticed that it defaults to "preset" early in my learning process and have been constantly searching for something to do exactly that.  I may not have mentioned previously, that a @^^*^^$*_)((^*^ manual would have been really handy.  OK ... Maybe I have mentioned it before. The first words of the manual should read "This sim is not really intuitive and reading the manual is strongly recommended"  Real men, of course, will ignore this recommendation, LOL

i am selecting actual wx when starting each flight and am getting representative weather, though not current based on ATIS vs current Metar.  For instance this evening I "beamed up" to KBNA, Nashville, Tennessee (wow I spelled it right).  Rain overspreading the area was correct, but the ceiling, visibility, and baro pressure were representative but not accurate, not only the the minute, but to the hour.  Fltplan.com showed current metar was 29.79, 3800 broken, 7,000 broken, 15,000 broken, and 250 OVC, 9 mi visibility in light rain (-RA) .  MSFS ATIS was 190/06, 29.83, 1,000 scattered, 4,000 scattered, 12,000 scattered, 3 miles in heavy rain.

Close and it's not a game of hand grenades or tidly-winks.

And MSFS only has 3 layers of clouds.   Is it possible to add another layer like you can with wind layers?

I just finished a flight from Presidio TX to El Paso TX and there was rain in route that showed up on the in cockpit radar and foreflight. Never saw the first drop but lots of clouds.

There has to be, because mine is always on Live Weather when I start a flight ... Unfortunately, I have absolutely no clue how I achieved that!!

It would be interesting to check each time wich weather shows up by Meteoblue since it's the provider...

I think I just figured this out today as I've been having the same problem.  Click on the Tile on the left for Live vs Preset or Custom, run a flight, leave, come back in and it's on Preset again.  On a hunch I left it on preset, but in the preset at the top is a Live "preset".  After clicking that (live time was already active) and running a flight, leaving, and coming back in, it's on the Live tile now instead of Preset.  So yeah, if it's stuck on Preset, go into the settings for the presets and choose live time and live weather both and it should fix it I think.

I *think* there is another issue - that is once we open the program and get live weather to load up. I was seeing consistent clouds/rain (not wind - that is broken) in the USA yesterday from about 10:00AM UTC (30 AUG) until around 22:00 UTC. Then, all of the sudden, after closing the sim and re-opening after dinner, the weather was like 12 hours behind. Like the data resets and loops back from 12 hours ago.

So I believe that things run pretty good from 10:00 UTC to 22:00 UTC... can anyone else try and see what I mean? Pick a good place to test that has a front or larger storm move through during the day. Maybe I'm crazy?

Live Weather is one of the presets. I selected that once, and I get live weather on every load of the sim automatically.

Set it once and have not touched since release 14 days ago.   Live Players, Live Traffic, Weather/Time Live

Not sure how to resets on people , it loads the same way for me each time, with weather.

The only time I have seen issue is if power goes out here at the house and I load a save, sometimes the weather gets borked
