The market for 3PDs may grow so small with P3D and X-Plane, that 3PDs just stop developing for both eventually.

As someone famous said:  "Eventually we will all be dead.."

Me thinks there is too much worrying going on..

Orbx just released P3D TrueEarth for Florida..  😉

It looks ok, but a bit choppy. I think high quality photogrammetry works pretty well, but when there are too many buildings spaced that close together I think it goofs up the shadows. It seems to work better on stand-alone skyscrapers I guess, or maybe it's purely just related to the quality. I too prefer manual renderings but only if the quality of the textures are halfway decent.

Are there any MSFS files here on Avsim? I've checked the library a few times and have yet to see any files in the Microsoft Flight Simulator section.

I started a thread in Hangar chat about this issue (was eventually locked after a thoughtful discussion), and it was mentioned that they were doing maintenance on it right now. I have seen more categories added, but as of this morning, I still see 0 files.

Considering that there are 100's of repaints already made for default aircraft, someone somewhere should have uploaded something by now. If the library is actually up and running, and no one has any interest in uploading here, that's a problem that needs to be investigated.

Maybe people are trying to upload files, but the library isn't working? IDK.

And unprofessional - looks like it was made by kids.

Eh. It does what it needs to do......

I also note their forum already seems quite populated and active.

Interesting times.

EDIT: Hmmmmm.... I just clicked on their Submit add-on tab..... and have to admit that given a choice between the Avsim library process and this........ https://www.msfsaddons.org/submissions

Many modern users would likely prefer the latter.

Me neither. It only really works at a certain altitude. I never expected it to look good from up close, but to my surprise it doesn‘t look very good from up high either. I hope they can do something about it (LOD).

No, not Nice, Monaco. Nice is about 20 miles west.😁

Monaco is lovely, but it brought my computer to its knees. I took off out of Nice and felt the frames go down immediately like I had turned into a strong wind. It was smooth when I flew back the other way.

Reading this forum, I get the feeling that a lot of AVSIM regulars have no idea what MSFS has to offer already in terms of freeware. I mean, just have a look at a list of addon airports that have been released already. It's long, very long. And that's not even a complete list.

Where does that list come from? I have been looking for something like that.

Yeah I also thought I had better try it after posting about it. Frames dropped from +/- 50 at Nice looking West (22L) and immediately dropped to +/- 14 the moment I turned East and brought it into view. Funny thing is, even at such low FPS the sim was quite manageable and not 1 stutter. Kudos to the creator, I am quite convinced we are going to see some talent coming through with this release.

Now the only other thing we have to do is teach those using multiplayer not to sit on the active for an hour or more!

Same here I'm getting great frames everywhere else.

I think it's the cliff which is the issue. It causes problems as far west as Nice. But an amazing piece of scenery nevertheless.

I thought the Trophée des Alpes at La Turbie would be rendererd, judging from the filenames.
