I just wanted to make it so people didn't have to download a zip file if they didn't want to, so I put all the information on a website post. I know I am sometimes cautious of what I download, so I wanted to give people the option to just have the information without being forced to download something. Thanks again! It's a tough call. Actually donationware implies send something or nothing - your choice so people will download as they see fit and some will donate. BTW, I donated. I like what you did and I have always enjoyed visiting Idaho. As a suggestion, if you want to keep the donationware banners on the page, you might post in the Bargain Hunters forum here - that's what it's for and mention it in the regular forum. Vic Ah thanks so much Vic! I really appreciate it. Yeah, it's a tough call all around on how to share these kind of things with the community. I really did enjoy putting it together, but, it was a ton of work. It would have been much easier if the MSFS flight plan tool wasn't in such bad shape. There was many points of frustrations where I would have much preferred to be free flying in all of the locations I have on my 'To Fly To' list, but I just thought about how much people might enjoy it, so I wanted to finish it to get it out there. So I figured I would give people the option to contribute if they enjoy the experience, which will help make it easier for me to put off my 'real work' to create more of these in the future. Luckily I work for myself, so my boss isn't too word not allowed at me 🙂 And yes, Idaho is beautiful. I never realized how many landing strips we had until I started putting this together. And that was just a small section of Idaho. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful location with so much wilderness, even though the winters are brutal! Thanks again for all your help Vic. I am really learning alot from scouring AVSIM. Some highly knowledgeable people here! Michael
September 8, 20205 yr It would be nice if somebody created a "one list to rule them all" of all the available freeware spread across all these different websites and services. I remember when Yahoo first launched (yes the grey hair is real), where it was a curated list of all websites on the very small WWW at the time. We need something like that for all the MSFS 2020 addons. Perhaps such a list exists somewhere already?

Not allowed to post it, though, because it also contains converted FSX planes that are considered piracy.

September 8, 20205 yr On the one hand it is great to see how many freeware mods already exist just three weeks after release. I very much appreciate the contribution of all the modders and it is exciting to see both P3D and XP users (and payware developers) are now coming to MSFS and already started to create content. I can't even imagine where MSFS will be in a year from now with all this contribution of freeware (and payware) content creators. On the other hand it is already now getting overwhelming and confusing. The quality of these freeware mods is diverse, the mods are constantly being updated, they are all over the internet and it is uncertain what effect these mods - or any combination of them - eventually have on the sim stability and performance and how they are compatible with each other. Given that Jörg Neumann in one of the recent interviews hinted to a plan to have something like a freeware gateway for MSFS (and it is one of the top wishlist items on the official forum), where all mods are evaluated and then integrated into the sim, I am rather reluctant to install all that stuff now - I rather wait for the gateway plans to materialize. Okay, if it exists then I can do the legwork and search for it. I'm new to this forum, so I don't really understand why posting links is such a taboo, but I accept that what is, is.

This is a wise observation. For example, adding one or two of the available unofficial "photogrammetry" addons greatly increases the time takes to reach the Welcome screen. Not everyone will be happy with the effect on frame rates either, beautiful though they look. Until someone comes up with a program to do it for you, one option would be to create a second Community folder and after renaming the original, just add back the addons required for the flight in question. Why anyone would want to fly a butchered copy of the superb freeware C 47, or any bootlegged FSX default aircraft that does not work as intended, is beyond comprehension, given the penchant in this and many forums to shot down good quality addon aircraft for the smallest of missing details. I'd suggest the tips and tricks sub forum, but I think all of those posts are locked. There is also this post over in the FS forums: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/guide-find-catalogues-of-msfs-addons/260120. Something appears to be missing from that list. September 8, 20205 yr I am sorry but what is being released? There is even no proper SDK yet! Where are the addon planes? What is a simulator without a proper airplane? It is like a marriage without sex! I am not a anti MSFS troll but we hardcore simmers want this! And we still have to see how a Pmdg is going to perform in the new sim instead of default ones, I really hope it is not going to be a stutterparty! It has almost been a month and nothing: https://secure.simmarket.com/msfs-aircraft-page-1.chtml Edited September 8, 20205 yr by rob0203
