The install instructions are sort of confusing, but I think there is only one Community folder and since I installed MSFS2020 to a drive different that 'C', the file path was much different, so I wanted to make sure I got it installed correctly. I've already made a flight from there and found it in the search, so I knew it was in the right place, but was unsure of the Content page. Somehow it is being nunderstood that you cannot post links of any kind. That is untrue. Simply, if a link goes to a storefront where someone may buy the product - it is a form of advertising and Avsim gets income from advertising so no point in providing it freely. If a file is uploaded to drop box or megafile or any other sharing site - no problem linking to it. If the link is to a freeware site no problem with the caution that copyrighted files ported to MSFS without permission will be deleted. I don't really know where this "no links at all: idea came from. So if it goes to a store - no link just say it's available at xys, Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
September 5, 20205 yr I think we are witnessing a "changing of the guard". There is so much talent out there and this freeware version of Monaco is quite simply ..... stunning!

September 5, 20205 yr Unfortunately that's a bit too much of resolution 🙂 You notice a huge framedrop (slide show). And these images still don't fit in their surroundings. Edited September 5, 20205 yr by Hoppala29

Also doubt P3D will go away as well, it certainly not as pretty but far more solid. Love my Ryzen 9 by the way. Yes, my thoughts exactly. We all know it cant match MSFS for the visuals but for me personally whose not a fan of photo scenery it doesnt bother me. I prefer landclass style. I will of course be getting MSFS middle or end of next year because the GA flying looks great (I'll just learn to accept the photo overlay scenery). XP11 will remain my primary, as you said, its solid. Very easy to work with and I just love how its file structure is so self contained - doesnt touch the registry and no hidden folders dotted about...fond FSX memories! From the airport gateway, utilities, FlywithLuey etc. there is no way that I would have stuck with the sim without the contributions of the community. It looks like MSFS has that same backing of those willing to contribute to get the most out of the sim. The next few years will be interesting to see where things go...looking good thus far. Even as a big fan of XP11 I agree that the dev times are so long, spaces between updates is long. But I do realize they are a small team so I take it in stride...but admit that now I just want Vulkan full version already 😀 MFS will only get better as time passes. I dont yet have the sim but following these forums I can already see talk of patches, the A320N getting a Zibo like treatment, all this is great news. Edited September 5, 20205 yr by ThrottleUp

I think it's basically a matter of when, not if, MSFS becomes the preeminent sim platform (in terms of realism - in terms of size, it's probably already there). The studio seems committed to that, they have massive manpower to make it a reality, and we've already seen the massive community effort to make tons of improvements in just the first couple of weeks - imagine where it will be in six months, once Asobo themselves have managed to fix and expand some things, and the study level aircraft start rolling? But even having said that, I've never understood why that means P3D or XP have to or are going to "go away". Use what you like. I don't get why people treat their hobbies like a Brand vs. Brand bloodsport.

Will be interesting to check the frame-rates Technical term for my reaction to this scenery as I flew over it in my trusty 172: GOB-SMACKED! Frame rate hit? - yes. How many? - Varies but 7-10....however that is irreverent, its the "stutter-factor" that is my only concern....yes stutters a bit but good heavens this scenery is unreal....or REAL, as it were (I've been to Monaco...ok decades ago but this is how I remember it!) Flyable? - it is for me (when exploring scenery of this magnitude...as good or better than any payware out there) My system - 8700k (not OC'd, HT on), 32gb 2666MHZ (insert your favorite timing numbers here...it doesnt matter), ANCIENT Titan (Maxwell)....think I read its no faster than a 1660...but does have 12BG Vram and that may make a difference. Screenshots Took off from Nice (LFNM) 04L and flew straight out,,,then left a little...Nice itself is also extremely detailed!...came around the mountains, and when cresting the last one...this is what I saw... Oh yeah....and the stuttering STABILIZED a lot after I paused to process the screenshots....I guess all that scenery data had to load into memory.....this is simply amazing stuff! Then over Monaco....(best scenery I've seen so far....and its free!) If I had ten thumbs, they would all be up! Would love to hear reports from folks with a top end video card....I hope to have a 3080 or 3070 when I get a hold of one. My goodness what a phenomenal time to be a simmer!!!!!! Additional note: The screenshot...even while they may appear to be good....are HEAVILY JPG compressed by my post-processing app to produce screenshots (over version of Paintshop Pro). I'm running 4k'ish on a 52" monitor....screenshots are huge at this resolution. The appearance in the sim and on my screen will simply take your breath away....NO screenshot can convey that properly. More screens...I just dipped into the heart of Monaco. Attention fellow simmers....this is the best scenery I've ever seen, period. And for those who know me, you know I've been in the game long enough for that to mean something. 😉 Even compressed at a rate of 25 (that is a very high jpg compression ratio)...these screens....sized reduced to 1800x wide (vs native 3000+), they are STILL over 500KBs! Like I said...they may look good, but still not as good as the sim does on my screen. I don't get why people treat their hobbies like a Brand vs. Brand bloodsport. The problem for P3D and XP, from the perspective of 3rd Party Developers (3PDs), is that if there is critical mass for MSFS and 90% of the flight sim market shifts to MSFS, there comes a point where 3PDs stop producing new content for P3D and XP. If my recollection is correct, I think read an example of a 3PD that announced new products for MSFS and then also said they will stop developing products for one of P3D or XP (can't remember if it was P3D or XP). I wish I can remember where I read it but I do recall reading an example of this. The flight sim market is very similar to the console market, IMO. When game makers top making games for a specific console, that console will eventually wither out. It doesn't happen immediately, but the writing is on the wall. I think the same thing may happen with P3D and X-Plane. The market for 3PDs may grow so small with P3D and X-Plane, that 3PDs just stop developing for both eventually. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
