September 20, 20205 yr So.. I set up a vor to vor flight, and I see the magenta line on the display. However, with AP on and fd on, it doesn’t seem to catch and stay on the line when I am on the line. Im sure I am missing something, but not sure. One time it did try to follow nav, but as Bert earlier experienced, it would zig and zag. Not just with trim, but actually trying to hold pitch manually. VERY sensitive. Another issue I have is, when engaging AP, it bucks like a horse! Straight up to 2000 fpm then down to -2000 fpm. Any others have the issue? Is there a "best practices" for how to setup the AP and engage it? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I will say I am going to LOVE this plane once I get it mastered!! Thanks. Use FSUIPC beta 7 to calibrate your joystick and add some positive slope.

Yesterday when I flew from Chicago to Cincinnati, at least when on AP. I could only tune the radial in 10° increments. That for both for CRS and HDG. And the increments were not even on the 10°s. Was like each change, for example CRS, was from say 236° to 246°, or 266° to 276°. I could not tune in 1° increments for either. And the HDG was on the 4's. Like 224° to 234°, etc. Then right this minute I have the Mooney fired up on the tarmac and I can freely tune in 1° increments for both CRS and HDG, AP on or AP off. Go figure. I did not imagine what was occurring yesterday. I fooled with it for the entire flight. So that is what I believed was under discussion here, and what I believed was causing the zig zagging. I have had something like this occur in another aircraft as well, but at perhaps 5° instead of 10° increments. Do not recall which model, but most of my time has been in the DA62, G36, and 172's. I do not own the Carenado 182, and yesterday's M20 flight was my first in an MFS payware aircraft. I hope you will like this "fix"!😀 🙂 As the autopilot zig zags on GPS NAV tracking, if you disconnect and reconnect NAV, just as the CDI passes through zero, the NAV now locks onto the course, and holds it! Edit: BTW.. you may need to re-apply this fix after a course change on the GNS530 🙂 Edited September 20, 20205 yr by Bert Pieke Bert

This is indeed looking to be a bumpy ride, but there is much to like here! I have a trusty old CH Products yoke and have it set up with -40% in both aileron and elevator sensitivity. Not sure if anything changed with the latest patch.. others have been complaining.. Either way, with these settings, the Mooney seems quite well behaved and very controllable. The way I fly the autopilot, is that I preselect the target altitude on the ground, and with the autopilot in FD mode, I press the ARM button on the preselector. Then, when stabilized after takeoff, I engage the autopilot and it flies the airplane. Edited September 20, 20205 yr by Bert Pieke Bert
