It always was on the to-do list.

What is less clear is if DX12 will also bring RT/DLSS options.

It better!

DX12 will be our savior. I can't wait

I don't know if we would get DLSS I would love to see it but given its a NVidia technology I don't think they would implement it.  As for RT I don't know if they would want to but maybe like FSX it will be an experimental mode...

I can hear the people crying-NEED MORE VRAM 😉

Nahh.. 150 Gb should be enough. 😁

It also might make me have to uninstall MSFS....as I already get dumped in P3D v5.x if my 8 GB Vram gets exhausted.  HUNG (out to dry).  I can run P3D without E.A., but with E.A. as 'on....8 GB's doesn't cut it...you get dumped.

Yep...I (8 GB's) probably will....under DX12, I can' run a major feature of P3D (E.A.)  over my preferred slider settings...for that takes me into Vram DX12 budget exhaustion...and I CTD.

Hopefully, and I am praying for this, there will be a switch allowing you to either use DX12 or remain on DX11..     The idea of DX12 fills me with terror of months of "faffing" around whilst they try to make it work properly.

System specs...   CPU AMD5950,  GPU AMD6900XT,  ROG crosshair VIII Hero motherboard, Corsair 64 gig LPX 3600 mem, Air cooling on GPU,   Kraken x pump cooling on CPU.  Samsung G7 curved 27" monitor at 2k resolution ULTRA default settings.

There is a rumor that there is already an internal group under NDA testing the DX12 build with massive performance improvements.

Not that I'm an expert on the nitty-gritty details of DLSS, but as far as I understand it, it works on specific games where the deep learning algorithm has to be trained on how the game imagery looks and how things move around in the game world, so it can construct higher resolution images from a lower resolution based on all the game details it has learned. So it would maybe only work on games that have well defined game areas and game objects and effects that the algoritm can learn fully.

In MFS the game area is kinda... big. And it can appear with all sorts of atmospheric effects. And the objects in the game can often be cockpits in aircraft addons and structures in airport addons that DLSS hasn't learned anything about. So I'm not so sure if we should expect DLSS to work with MFS.

All true. Particularly in 3D areas and customised airports.

Though there are also large areas of generic trees and water and those generic buildings generated where there is no 3D map so there is still some stuff DLSS might be able to work with.

Before I get my head bitten off I should state that I am technically challenged. I know I have read that MSFS only uses about 4 out of the  12 threads (or cores) of my cpu. What I cannot remember if this is due to the fact that the app does not use Direct X 12 ? So my question is, will Direct X 12 if and when it arrives, enhance the performance?

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X on ROG CROSSHAIR VIIl DARK HERO (AM4), Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 V2 OC and 32 GB Vengeance Pro Ram 3600MHz. DELL Alienware AW3420DW 3440x1440 and DELL U2414H

Well that`s the addons needing updating when it comes, just hope it`s not like Rex weather addons we are still wait for the update for DX12 P3Dv5, and i don`t think it will come soon fixing the sim first will take some time.
