I agree... that’s been their historic M.O. I keep hoping (perhaps against hope) that this time will be different.

It’s the first time they were first at anything and I was hoping they wouldn’t sink back into mediocrity.

Has anyone tried this new User Mod for the GNS530?  I can't tell if it is working in the Mooney or not.

Works fine in the Mooney. You can tell if you've installed it correctly pretty easily e.g. if you look at the main NAV screen - the map scale should be in the bottom left. Then if you click on the the CLR button you can cycle through the declutter levels. In the bottom left beside the map range you'll see -1, -2, -3 as you cycle through them. I think overall the screen is definitely a little easier to read due to the font change. The rest of the latest v1.02 all looks to work as advertised so I'm definitely keeping it.

I tried the Direct to and couldn't get the Exec to finish the highlighted waypoint, just like before anyone update. The readme says it should work, but, doesn't

I had the same problem with the Direct To function. Everything looks OK until I tried to activate the selection. 

Maybe the Github Mod team will have a version 1.03 and fix it.  I find it encouraging that we have Users that can clean up these half-hearted attempts by Asobo.  This might be our best hope for getting the loose ends tied up until the pros get here with the Reality XP and F1 GTN units.

I can enter the DTO waypoint and after highlighting it again, advance to Activate and Enter.

However.... what I am impatiently waiting for, is the ability to highlight any waypoint, and then push DTO-Enter-Enter, just like in any real world Garmin GPS.

How do you Advance to Activate?  If I use the closest waypoints and highlight one of them, I see Activate, but, I can't find how to highlight or Select it and Enter does nothing. duh.

It still does not work anywhere near correctly... but if I push DTO, I can activate the cursor, enter the waypoint name (using the knobs), enter.  Activate cursor again, advance to Activate, enter one more time..

I cannot highlight a waypoint, and push DTO-Enter-Enter as I would in the real unit.

I like to use the Nearest screen, select something, highlight it, then press of Select, press DTO, rotate the outer ring twice to hightlight Activate, press Enter.  Seems to work without any indication that it is selected and captured until to go back to map and see to magenta course line. I can't seem to remember when to press Directo. duh.

Kinda like some of my old girlfriends, not my first choice, but better than nothing.

Success. I think I got it now. Thanks guys.  I do wish Flight1 would surprise us all with a new GTN650/750.

Check out the thread on the incoming Carenado model - Piston Twin - Seminole PA44.  Most folks are asking if Carenado will introduce feathering props?  Can you imagine a payware twin without.
