October 15, 20205 yr Another option is flying the drone in MSFS. I have the 10 drone flight keys (up down right left forward backward, pan right, pan left, pan up, pan down, all mapped onto 2 hats of my flightstick. When leaving Drone View (Showcase Camera) all those control mappings disappear automatically from off of the stick. Because Asobo made the drone commands only work in drone view, but not in cockpit nor outside view. So I can put other commands on the same 2 hats and those commands will (only) work in cockpit or outside views using the same 2 hats. If I want to get a good look at anything, a street address or mountain top, I always active pause and fly the drone. I don't have to think about it, with hats you just move the hat towards where you want to pan the drone view towards or to the direction you want to fly the drone. I think helicopters is the last thing Asobo will add to the game, a long time from now. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. I'm in Missouri, so I guess it's natural for me to be a Blues fan. I have been here since the beginning and yes I remember the system crash. Before that, I think AVSIM acquired the IUP file archive or Mike Marando's Flight Sim Uploads, and it seems like the message board started around then. It's all kind of a haze now. Some time around 1998 or so as you mention. But for all I know these forums could have come from alt.flight-sim.great.balls.of.fire. We have indeed crossed paths, I remember you from way, way back. I spent 3+ years as a meteorologist at Forney AAF at Ft. Leonard Wood in the early 1970s, and later traveled the whole state out of my base of Jeff City (near Apache Flats) for a major farm equipment manufacturer from 1976 thru 1979. Know the state well, and routinely fly to destinations there. During NHL seasons my St Louis FBO is at KSUS, with occasional flights instead into KCPS, St Louis Downtown, albeit slightly over into Illinois, but nearer the arch.... I consider myself to be from Indiana, where I went to school at IU and met my Hoosier wife of now 49 years. I enjoy seeing the scenery and doing live weather and nighttime to me seems pointless as I cant see anything . Would suggest throwing in a couple of overcast layers every once in a while as the lighting and shadows are just magic. And a gusty wind layer adds some interest along the coast too...!

I did live in Jeff City back in the 90's, lived right behind a hospital emergency room, so I had sirens going at all hours of the night sometimes. Here's a little site that may interest you -- http://www.airfields-freeman.com/MO/Airfields_MO_SE.htm I'm going to try to find Arrowhead Airport (near St. Louis) in MSFS and see what it looks like. Is that the small airport that was located next to a golf course, right along the Missouri river? Umbro Valley? Some stunt planes used to buzz golfers... How is the Caravan to fly? Any issues? I've read about the A320 A/P issues and seen vids of the Latitude bizzjet porpoising goofy style. When I get MSFS im most excited for the GA turboprops (Caravan, TBM) and the Carbon Cub.

I hear TBM is great. I tried the Caravan and found it awful, not sure why. The Cubs are really really good. The Bonanza + Turbo Mod is nothing short of amazing.

That might be Missouri Bluffs Golf Course, which is on the north/west side of the Missouri River (Weldon Spring area). It's a hilly course. There IS a Crystal Springs Golf Course right on Creve Coeur Lake, which is a flat golf course. It is a stone's throw away from Creve Coeur Airport....and Arrowhead Airport....maybe that is the one you're thinking of. Arrowhead Airport is just south of Creve Coeur Airport. Arrowhead got damaged in the Great Flood of '93 and closed shortly thereafter -- the runway is not in the greatest shape but it's hanging in there.
