By saying that these are areas I am familiar with, I am stating this in very broard terms. All my flights out of YBBN for instance, were done as a passenger in an airliner, so the VFR aspects are well beyond me in terms of reality. I am really basing my statements on the flight sim platforms before MSFS. They actually, and collectively agreed pretty much with each other, and then along comes MSFS with different gates etc. I also lived on Magnetic Island and returned there a few times in the last couple of years. I can tell you that basic shapes of the Island are similar but the rest is almost totally inaccurate to the point where I could not find any homes that I recognised and I do know that the house I grew up in still exists. There is no way I can compare the rest of the country with the real and actual scenery, but it is different in comparison to the older platforms, ie vastly prettier. Also, getting back to YBBN, there is now a second parallel runway which does not show in the sim. I only mention this, because as a new simulator, I would have thought that, at the very least, if not up to the minute accurate, the construction work has been in progress for about three-four years and there is no sign of that either. P3Dv5 with AUv2 is even worse so, I have no real basis for complaint. As I said earlier, these are not deal breakers for me in any way. It would be nice to recognise something in MSFS but it is certainly a long way better than any of the other platforms in terms of default scenery, so I am not complaining, I am simply making a statement with no malice LOL Loved your video, and looked at Foreflight, but it is way, way, too expensive for me unfortunately, particularly when I do not really have a problem with the G3000 anyway and, it is being upgraded (a work in progress, but looking seriously good) by the WorkingTitle Team. Thanks for your input matey, Regards Tony I didn't mean to imply that I was criticizing you. I have just found that the quality of the scenery of a given area is directly proportional to the quality of the satellite imagery used for a given area. Case in point. I flew from St Barthelemy to Sint Maarten, and was shocked. I thought that my internet connection had died. The rendering of Sint Maarten was horrendous. The roads are there, but the textures and buildings and underlying imagery is really low res and out of focus. A quick trip to Bing Maps and Google Maps shows much better resolution data than represented in the SIM. Perhaps that's the issue you have. I'm hoping Australia gets a better foundation to work on, so that the Autogen can do a bit of it's magic. I'm hoping the same for Sint Maarten. St Barthelemy is beautifully rendered, which makes Sint Maarten even more disappointing so I feel your pain.
October 22, 20205 yr I'm waiting not only for it to mature but also have the added feature of VR. I'll be there in time but for now, Xplane 11 and P3Dv3 (so I can fly the FSPassengers PMDG JS41 with FS2Crew) is all I need. i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi

October 22, 20205 yr I have not loaded up MSFS in weeks. It's not mature enough for what I normally use flight simulators for, nor is the SDK ready for third party developers. I hope that they'll continue working on it until it reaches that maturity level, but I fear that sales and player engagement will wane too soon and force MS to cut off development before it can happen. Hope I'm wrong.
October 22, 20205 yr I have been up and down (pun intended) with MSFS.. but am now using it to simulate owning and piloting my very own Bonanza, parked at my local airport, CYCD. I fly local flights to keep up my skills, and do cross country flights throughout the Pacific NorthWest when I have the time. Spent some time around Redding, CA, last week 🙂 I have a sticker on the panel, that says "G1000 glidepath indicator Inop" to remind me that there is something that needs fixing, but other than that, the airplane is perfectly flyable, VFR or IFR. I am now looking at my paper maps again, and generally spend more time planning out a flight than I have been in P3D where I just jump in and rely on my GTN750.. (which I probably would not do in real life..) I still have P3D V5 for the "other stuff" and have several favorite planes (RV7, Kodiak, C421, Phenom 300) that are fully serviced and ready, but I do fire up MSFS most days and really enjoy the flying (without the tinkering..) All in all, $60 very well spent! 🙂 Bert
October 23, 20205 yr I'm excited to see what happens w/ cloud morphology and appearance w/ DX12. Someone posted some issues present w/ cloud details (morphology, graphic artifact etc not 'weather' per se) will be addressed w/ DX12 implementation. I find it nice to have both sims depending on what I'm in the mood for so I'm glad I did not uninstall P3D. I think I'm about 15% P3D and 85% MSFS in terms of air time. There is much more ground prep time w/ P3D which I enjoy along w/ FSCaptain. My most recent was a short flight in the NGXu from KTUS>KDEN w/ a divert recommendation from FSCaptain due to very low ceiling at KDEN, to the alternate KAPA. It was a fabulous flight in its own right as that condition is pretty rare w/ FSCaptain, and we landed perfectly despite the marginally higher ceiling at KAPA. From there, we started MSFS and took the TBM930 up to Laramie WY. The mechanics were nice in P3D, but the flying, the sense of flight, was far more realistic in MSFS. From the very decent oem KAPA airport, just one of a hundreds of really nice upgrades over FSX/P3D stuff, lots of local air traffic, to climbing up out of the soup to some breaking clear sky w/ fully recognizable scenery the entire flight just completed the day's flight simming. MSFS feels a whole lot more like a flight sim, ironically, w/ all of discussion over sim v game.
