Predictable rumours now re a 3080ti.

This was always going to be the case, team green have been playing cheeky little games. This was obvious to me which is why I was never going to jump in and buy a 3080 or 3090.

Am currently using a 1080p monitor with a 1070 am looking at upgrading to the 3070 but wondering whether to get a 1440p or 4K monitor/tv... hearing the 3070 might struggle with 4K anyone heard this?

It is not just the power of the 3070 GPU, but the amount of VRAM on it that might make it struggle on 4k ultra settings.  Once again though, it will probably depend on the complexity of where you fly and what aircraft etc.

It's not worthless...it shows how the cards are likely to perform...you're actually seeing a ratio of performance.  How much faster is the 3090 vs 3070 etc.  

 

I use a 1080Ti at 4K and have to dial back the settings a bit... but am pleased enough to wait until the dust settles...

Really hoping the AMD assault will force Intel and nVidia to deliver better price/performance, but as with everything... time will tell.

Yeah I don't know why so many posters are going into rage mode over relative benchmarks that have been a standard of measuring GPU performance for years now.

Yes.  There has been too much negativity and sniping lately. 

There is still plenty of tolerance for different views and courtesy, but there are a few who try to spoil it.  It won't happen!

Insert manufactured rage because the reviewer didn’t list out every last setting they selected or they didn’t test it at the settings I run in the game so now I am offended and outraged and demand justice!

 

seriously...not hard to extrapolate relative performance of the various cards with these reviews.

you should be ok with 60 fps on Ultra with most AAA titles these days, but I'd be tempted to go for 1440p - gives you a bit of headroom, and you will get better performance with MSFS on a 70 series card

What's great is that mid-level cards from both camps will be able to allow folks to run with many settings on ultra and still get darn good performance in the sim. That's unthinkable given the endless tweaking we had to do with other sims.

For the specific purposes of this sim this is a decent 1440p option for right now.

The 8 gigs of ram is however very concerning considering the typical development path of sims as they become more complex.

I'm on 1440p using ultra settings on a rtx2080 super so this isn't worth the hassle.

Considering the lack of 3080s in the market AMD has a chance to capitalize 

Hopefully Amd has higher VRAM to give some future proofing headroom and they don't make a hash of the drivers and image quality implementation this time around.
