November 9, 20205 yr I know that in preperation for the weekly updates, the server often updates on a Sunday night (my time uk).. but something changed last night that on my GPU monitors has now started pushing my Graphics card to 100% all the time... the CPU dropped a bit but the GPU went from being constantly at around 60 - 70% to being flat out 100% constantly. I've checked with both the windows app tracker and CPUID monitor and both are reporting a huge climb in GPU usage. Also checked with an empty Community folder. Has anyone else seen this since last night at about 7:30 UK time so around mid afternoon Pacific? It suddenly changed whilst I was on a 4 hour A320neo flight at the usual server update time when you are flying and it suddenly goes server connection lost followed a couple of minutes later by Connection re-established (standard Sunday before patch change).. suddenly saw the GPU go to 100% and rechecked this morning and still at solid 100%. It also seemed that the groound was way more detailed as well.. maybe the LOD but that could just be placebo.. am more worried about the massive GPU rise. Frame rate went up as well by over 10FPS when the server came back.. including the fact that frame rate in the cockpit of the 320 was higher than the frame rate from external view. Not using either manual or rolling cache.. pic included from sitting at Birmingham airport in TBM this morning when testing and with the TBM livery the only thing in the community folder. I would love to hear that someone else sees this and it's not just me that is going mental (again ) 🙂 I know I am on a lowly 1060 card but to-date I have still been able to get a solid 30FPS at high settings.. but this worries me because of temps etc and whilst I am not arguing about it going upto 40FPS I have concerns 🙂 Graham Edited November 9, 20205 yr by Moria15 System specs... November 9, 20205 yr I can't test it right now myself, but generally high GPU use is a good sign. The sim should always take advantage of all the GPU power available. It may be that this really is a good thing, and the increase i saw in frame rates was awesome.. my fear, and what I am watching closely today is that if the GPU is now running 100% I am concerned about temps etc.. I really wouldn't want to fry my GPU 🙂 So far in testing today my little 1060 has been running at around 82 - 85 degrees which I think is OK, but will be watching carefully 🙂 I know the max for that card is around 92/94 degrees so I don't want to see my GPU push higher than about 90 🙂 I agree GPU max utilisation is great as long as the temps don't start crawling way higher than they were 🙂 Graham Edited November 9, 20205 yr by Moria15 System specs... November 9, 20205 yr GPU at or around 100 is not unusual right? So long as no one reports or has reported overheating. Edited November 9, 20205 yr by icewater5

Below that or you are limiting the FPS with Vsync (or any external software) or you are having a bottleneck on your system. About temperatures, well, it’s all about the quality of the system of your GPU. Triple-fan GPUs or the water-cooled ones are probably the best. Also, have in mind that if your GPU is working as intended, it will never fry. All GPUs have protections against heat. But having a hotter gpu means it will perform worse. On your specific case, 82-85 is ok if you have a blower model (those single-fan models). November 9, 20205 yr I noticed over the weekend that my GPU seemed to be running higher as well (even on the menu screen which seems odd). Tried messing with the settings and did get it to drop a little bit but still it seemed to be running higher than before. Said heck with it and just put everything back. Haven't done much more testing to see what might be the cause. Only noticed one severe drop in FPS on a flight yesterday (was basically flying through the tropical storm and the stuttering was severe for a couple minutes, with single digit FPS). Well seems that SPAD.Next is blasting my system, so nothing GPU related on my end. Edited November 9, 20205 yr by Little Jenny Updated info.
November 9, 20205 yr I had the same thing happen yesterday afternoon (UTC-4), my GPU was maxed out and my usual 50-60fps dwindled to 15-20 or even less. I went for another two flights last night and the sim performance seemed to be back to normal. November 9, 20205 yr We are supposed to get performance improvements in the next update so maybe they pushed server side updates over the weekend? I sure hope it comes quickly because upgrading my GPU is near impossible. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
November 9, 20205 yr Funny as always how we experience completely different things. I just checked, and I have now 60% GPU use instead of the 100% I had yesterday and lost about 10 frames. Hans

After Update 5 I had a massive performance loss, used to be stable capped at 60fps before update and dropped to 30fps after update. GPU use at 60% and CPU use at 50%. Made no sense initially.. eventually read on the Microsoft forums that lots of people had the same issue. The fix for me was to go into Nvidia Control Panel and reset the settings to default for both Global and the actual app MFS. The culprit for everyone appeared to be either FXAA or MFAA, they would interfere with the new TAA from Update 5. After doing that, it runs super smooth and the Anti Aliasing looks amazing! GPU and CPU usage back to where they should be. Give it a try. Hope it solves your issue! Z370 Gaming Trident X | Intel i7-9700K | RAM 32.0 GB | AMD Radeon™ RX 9060 XT 16GB

Makes me chuckle when people actively try keep it below 100%. It's literally designed to run at that level.
November 9, 20205 yr All modern GPUs will reduce clocks to regulate temperature well before they reach TJMax (maximum junction temperature). For most modern GPU dies that temperature is in the low 90's in degrees Celsius. Unless your GPU is running that hot (it won't be unless you've lifted all temp limits and flashed an unlocked VBIOS and/or performed a shunt resistor mod to raise power limit for overclocking) there is no issue. This change is good, indicating that you are no longer CPU limited. Edited November 9, 20205 yr by Hyperfocal

Yep understand all that and have run a couple of long flights today monitoring temps and everything and no issues in that regards which I am pleased about.. I was as much interested in the change that actually took place changing from 40%CPU and 70% GPU to 30% CPU and a solid 100% GPU with no changes on my end of any sort. 🙂 Graham Edited November 9, 20205 yr by Moria15 System specs...
