November 15, 20205 yr I know a lot of you guys are struggling with stutters, even when you have high FPS. On my system I recently had made some changes and started getting stutters again, but I was able to restore a few settings and get back to stutter free simming. Now this doesn't mean you will have no stutters everywhere, for example when you take off or go into heavy cities, but I am able to get really good smoothness with my modest rig (see signature) so I wanted to share my settings. Running lean I shut down everything I have running, including MalWareBytes, browser windows, email, etc. Process Lasso 1. Priority Class > Always > High. 2. CPU Affinity > Always > Uncheck the last core. - I did this because I noticed that the last core was flat out a lot of the time, even when sitting at the menus, so I figured something else outside MSFS must be hammering that thread. 3. I/O Priority > Always > High 4. Application power profile > Bitsum highest performance Nvidia Profile Inspector If you are having stutters I would just try to use the settings I have here first (if applicable) and then see how it goes. Note that I do have a g-sync monitor, which could be a huge wildcard. Nvidia Control Panel MSFS Options I know every system is different so YMMV, but I think these settings provide a smoothness with my modest system that is pretty remarkable. Worth a shot if you have the stutters. Good luck! 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
November 15, 20205 yr This is setup for eye candy but using clouds on low is totally unacceptable for anyone wanting to simulate real world weather and/or IFR. Would trade those building/tree/grass ultra settings down. Render scaling to 80 as well. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
November 15, 20205 yr Gsync is the key to a stutter-free experience. Winning combo is i7-10700K OCed to 5.0 ghz. HT Off. RTX 3080 and a LG CX 48. It’ll give you very good stutter free experience at 4K, HDR, RGB 10bit.

November 15, 20205 yr Yep add me to the Gsync bandwagon. I never had stutters per se but i enabled and properly configured Gsync this weekend and while i may have lost a frame or two i can tell its much smoother. Thats a keeper. was definitely sleeping on that setting. November 15, 20205 yr @Maxis Where does one find Gsync? Should it be on/off and what is properly configured? November 15, 20205 yr Think your monitor is freesync, not gsync. you can enable freesync on NVidia cards but I have no idea whether the results are as good. need someone more knowledgeable to chip in
November 15, 20205 yr Like others have said, G-Sync is the key here. Pair that with a good cpu and graphics card and you will have 99.9% no stutters.
November 15, 20205 yr @@Maxis As my PC and monitor are new, it's times like these you get to know what it can do. The monitor has Freesync and it is showing as off! However, Cannot find any info in the NVIDIA control panel for Freesync. So not sure by turning Freesync on whether there will be compatibility. Martin Be careful with freesync, you will need to check it’s VRR range. Let’s say, hypothetically it’s range is 40-70, this means you will need to be able to maintain a minimum of 40fps in msfs. This is where G-Sync hardware monitors, especially G-Sync ultimate, are favourable. They have ranges from 1-144+
November 15, 20205 yr I have just read through my monitor's manual and it cannot be used with NVIDIA: hence Gsync does not show up in the NVIDIA control panel. I now understand that if a monitor is Gsync compatible, the NVIDIA control panel will show it. I've learnt something else today!
