What have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Better graphic ?

Well, of course better graphic but, apart for better graphic, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Better weather ?

That goes without saying but, apart for better graphic and better weather, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery ?

Sure but, apart for better graphic, better weather and worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Much better default airplanes ?

Yes but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery and better default airplanes, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- A new flight model ?

Well, of course there's a new flight model but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes and a new flight model, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Better usage of new hardware ?

I guess that's true but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- A visual scenery editor that caused an explosion of freeware never seen in years ?

Yes, we have a new visual scenery editor that we never had before but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- AI based on real flight ?

I think that's right but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, better AI, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Better sound ?

I hear you but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, better AI and better sound, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- An integrated Marketplace ?

Sure, we never had that before but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, better AI, better sound, and the Marketplace , what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Upcoming VR ?

I'll decide when I see it but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, better AI, better sound, the Marketplace and the upcoming VR, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- Better Multiplayer ?

I guess this is true but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, better AI, better sound, the Marketplace , the upcoming VR and a better multiplayer, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

- More frequent updates of features and content ?

Yeah, you are right, it took many months to get the first path in FSX, more than a year to get the SP2 and the only addon content ( Acceleration ) was payware but, apart for better graphic, better weather, worldwide coverage of photoreal scenery, better default airplanes, a new flight model, better use of new hardware, a new scenery editor, better AI, better sound, the Marketplace , the upcoming VR, the better multiplayer and more frequent updates, what have MSFS ever done for us ?

And so on...

For you Mr Leprechaun, quoting the whole thing for the mic-drop...🤣

I suppose one's answer to the question depends on how "complete" you believe the sim to be at this point in time based on what you're looking for.  If VFR is all you care about, or are satisfied with right now because the graphics are so breathtaking compared to what's come before, nothing else will come close and you're willing to tolerate any perceived shortcomings.

However, if one is looking for a more "well-rounded" FS (i.e., more than VFR), then yes, right now it lags behind the legacy sims in various areas.  And that's ok, because presumably this isn't permanent.  MSFS is early in its lifecycle and has a lot of time in front of it.

I see both sides but I don't think the premise of the original question is invalid, nor anything to be riled up about.  It's an honest question:  once you look beyond the graphics, what does it have that keeps you coming back for more?

For some, "looking beyond the graphics" is not even a thing because they enjoy them so much.  Nothing wrong with that.  But I don't think anything is wrong with the OP's question either.

I suspect in a few years most everyone will be good-to-go.  👍

And so on...

Anyone can make a list.  It's a little more difficult to make an accurate list.   Simply cataloging these things doesn't make them true.

We have Microsoft and Asobo to do the corporate hype.  How about some constructive criticism that actually leads somewhere?

Ah.  So the truth comes out.  You were not just asking a question in the opening of this threat as you claimed, but were complaining and disguising it as a question.  Sigh. That has been done over and over and hence the push back.   No wonder people get annoyed.

It could be fixed and these would diminish.  Agree they will never totally disappear...

Simple answer: MSFS has brought millions of users to and hundred of thousands users back to flight simming.

I haven't had so much fun in a flight sim since the early days of Terminal Reality's Fly!

Toxcity is brought on by finding a different way to complain (not to ask a geniune question as you pretended to have) about the same thing that we have seen many times and raining on other peoples parade who are enjoying the sim.

So a question for you. Have you given up on this sim?

No sir, Toxicity  and this "issue about raining on parades" keep coming up when people feel compelled to respond to some perceived slight about the product they want to defend/support or complain about. If you feel You cant add  to or offer offer a contrary view without attacking the person in the conversation then you probably should not respond and move on. Lots of this is going on ON BOTH SIDES.

No one is immune to going off the reservation sometimes and attack the OP instead of the argument but lets call it what it is and try to do better. The OP asked a question you can at least come up with an adequate response... or you can walk on by.

At first, I answered his question genuinely.  His response was that my preference did not qualify my experience as flight siming.

That belittled my experince and exposed his intention.  So please read the earlier portion of the thread well before telling me to move on.  But now I will.

The list IS accurate, there's not a single point which doesn't accurately describe all the improvements that came with MSFS.

And before you start with "the bugs", as I already said before, so many times, it has been 3 months since MSFS came out, and already got many updates.

If this was FSX ( arguably one of the most successfully versions ever ), we would still have to wait another 4 months for the FIRST Service Pack, since FSX came out in October 2006 and was first patched with SP1 in May 2007, then we would have to wait *another* 5 months to get the 2nd update, the Acceleration pack, which was payware and came out in October 2007. The free SP2 came another 2 months later.

I don't see how evidence as striking as this can be denied. Yes, there are bugs, but there are a ton of new features as well, most of them were asked for years ( new weather, new flight model, new graphic, etc. ).
