December 6, 20205 yr Long story short, migrated from P3D to MSFS 2020, and boy is this thing broken or is it user error? I cannot even have a 360 view of the cockpit using my simulator's control. If I try to look right, the view gets stuck there and everything gets of whack. To my point, this thing is not flyable. If you cannot move comfortably around the cabin, I don't think you can fly. I have not even got past this issue. I guess this is just the beginning of a long journey
December 6, 20205 yr Some issues and different mindset and learning curve but certainly not broke in general, some things are a challenge at current, airliners not great though Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
December 6, 20205 yr The controls are different to P3D/FSX etc What keys are you using to pan around the cabin ? Or are you trying to use a hat switch ? if so what controller and do you use controller software such as FSUICP ? Edited December 6, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
December 6, 20205 yr Author I use the hatch switch on the Jotas Thrustmaster. I have not been able to fly. What do I need to do to use the hatch switch? Edited December 6, 20205 yr by Huascar

Feel free to PM me, I'm happy to help you map controls, etc. One thing I'd suggest - check out the checklist feature. There's a little "eye" icon on the right side that will automatically move your view to the correct position. I also highly recommend using a gamepad to control the camera views in MSFS2020 if you have one. I use a PS controller with DS4Windows to make it look like an Xbox controller. You can actually fly circuits visually instead of obsessively watching the altimeter and DI to be sure you are at circuit height and on the correct crosswind/downwind/base heading. December 6, 20205 yr I just Googled the Jotas Thrustmaster and it brought up a picture of my Thrustmaster T 16000m HOTAS and some others. Do you have the HOTAS version? I looked forever only to find it bond this to be able to look around 360 degrees Cockpit or External. have no idea what the settings are, but it will work when you find them 🙂 At least it should. It bond to what the call the mini-stick on my HOTAS throttle control! I tried to post and image, from a url, but it's a no go. Good luck! December 7, 20205 yr How come you are new when you were highly praising the simulator and its progress a couple of months ago or so? Anyway, I believe what you want to do is map the free look camera controls to your hat switch. By default, the quick views are assigned with most joysticks it seems. Check out this article, it's towards the bottom. https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016003159-Camera-Overview
December 7, 20205 yr The simulator is not broken whatsoever and never has been, 'Im so tired of people bloody moaning about it, Bloodythell........ ridulculous..... I've been flying this awesome sim since release and have no problems whatsoever, nothing, and I m running it on a 10 year old i5 computer and a Nvidia 1060 6gb card on high settings on a 42 inch Panasonis 10 year old television, the bloody graphics are out of this world, amazing achievement for sure. I know it needs improvements here and there and I guess they will come but the simulator AND the weather is just outstanding. Regards Paul EGCC Regards Paul EGCC
December 7, 20205 yr It's just different key and controller maps, nothing is broken with regard to that. Sure it takes some getting used to and it might not automatically go to the settings you like, and some of it is obviously intended to facilitate being easier to set up with a X-Box controller, but a bit of effort deleting default keys and setting up your own preferred ones with the hardware you possess will have it behaving as you want it too. You are not the first FSX/P3D/XPlane user to not immediately approve of the key maps upon first acquaintance, I wasn't keen on it initially either, but to be fair, DCS World is a bit of a PITA to set up the views on too if you are used to previous MS sims as well, and nobody says that is 'broken' or 'unflyable'. December 7, 20205 yr Takes awhile to get used to all the new keys, completely different for me coming from fsx. I couldn't do much until I set up new control profiles for the keyboard and joystick, especially for views. if you work at it you will eventually be able to do everything in pretty much the same way as you were used to.
December 7, 20205 yr Question: are control profiles same between other sims? You just install one having used another one and bindings are standard? Is MSFS really so different by having its own scheme?

Yes and no 😄 Control mapping across the Microsoft sims and the various derivatives has been reasonably consistent up until MSFS. However control mapping in other sims, including the popular combat ones, can be a lot more varied. Edited December 7, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
