Need Two Best 3rd Party Airports in U.S. P3Dv5.1

Featured Replies

I am getting bugged for present ideas, so which are the two best, up-to-date airports for subject simulator? Back in FSX, probably Flightbeam's KSFO would be on the list, but have no idea what's actually up-to-date without issues now with things changing so fast. If one were suitable for trans-Atlantic flights, that would be a bonus, but just looking for two real gems for airline travel. Thanks.

Might have been best to post this topic in the P3D forum.  If you want, I'll move it, if not I'll let it fly here for a while.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

FSDT (FS DreamTeam) Chicago O'Hare v2 and any of the major US airports from FlyTampa (Vegas or Boston) or Flightbeam (KMSP but KDEN/KPHX/KSFO and KIAD are also there, some probably dated with KPDX being the most current US airport).

Some other ones from Pacsim KSLC, Drzewiecki Design KSEA (Airport and City), LatinVFR KSAN/KMIA for the major ones. Imaginesim has KATL but there's word someones working on an updated version. ETA TBA.

If up to me, would go for FSDT KORD v2 and FT KLAS 🙂

All the best though and Happy Holidays

KMIA was good up until v5.1 where it becoming a VRAM hog is pretty much a no go if you want all eye candy which actually comes with the airport.

+1

FSDT is allegedly going to update KORD v2 for P3D 'soon'™. The layout will then match the very latest real world environment. IMO, the current one is close enough to the real thing for any discrepancies not to matter too much.

FT KLAS is also brilliant.

Alternatives to consider: FT KBOS or FB KMSP.

I think my favorites are FT BOS/YUL/LAS and FB MSP/PDX

Considered that, you're probably right, but I thought I might get a better signal to noise ratio here given the high caliber of Hanger Chatters :-)

Yeah, only VRAM problem I ever had was at LEMD. But the non-PBR version they came out with seems better. KORD is well-situated for either domestic or international flights, and I'll look at the west coast suggestions. Thanks, guys. season's greetings.

FSDT KORD and FB KMSP are my favorites...

Anything Flightbeam, especially the airports Mir has done himself, like KSFO, KDEN or KIAD (KPXH is getting old in my view).
For me, Mir's work is the absolute top of scenery design (how I wish he would make some European airports). 💓

Yeah. My flightsim budget has been grossly exceeded as it is, starting with a new computer. I know they were great in FSX, but the reason I asked is that even the difference between P3Dv5 and P3Dv5.1 can be significant, and you never know if "P3Dv5" means "and updates" or what. I have bought an airport advertised for P3D5 only to find upon going to download P3Dv5.1 NOT SUPPORTED. (In that case, I think the dev was being admirably scrupulous, because I thought there were just a minor visual problem or two.) Anyway, I wanted to make sure I was getting the latest and greatest. I look over my old scenery from FSX, and, yes, I have Flightbeam and FlyTampa for good reasons. Sort of sad. If KSFO still works great in P3Dv5.1 HF1, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I might be dreaming, because it's been awhile -- but I believe I saw where LatinVFR have some alternate textures for KMIA you can download that will reduce vram usage.  On their forum/site.  I think this was brought up in this forum a few months ago.
