Can someone clarify? Thnx Becuase currently most AI solutions are freeware, and airlines know the developers do not get any money from it. If MSFS includeds them by default in the Sim, they are part of a payware product and then some companies want something from the income as well.

No idea but maybe they just do it? I don't think an airliner would care about it if is payware developer do that, they are small comparing to the airliner. However, things would be different if Microsoft would do that, a multi billion company, an airliner for sure would sue them. So yeah they have to play with the book here. Publish first and ask forgiveness later. Airlines probably never made an issue about it because things like UTL are small potatoes and probably flew under their radar. In the case of UTL, it didn't have that much painted anyway. For other's benefit (as I know you know this Chris), UTL had many of the major airlines, but a lot of stuff had generic paints along with a lot of flightplans that didn't have aircraft assigned due to the lack of AI models. To make UTL look good, you had to put in a ton of work downloading/installing paints (many which are included in AIG-AIM). I can see an airline sending someone at UTL a cease and desist letter, but based on UTL's customer service history, I wouldn't be suprised to find out that they ignored the letter. In the end, who are they going to sue? One shadowy dude who delivers an update every 4 years? Publish first and ask forgiveness later won't work with AS/MS. Large companies are very risk adverse, especially when it comes to things that are not key to their business. In the grand scheme of things, would MS risk being sued by JetBlue over niche feature in MSFS? I highly doubt it. Also, when thinking about airlines granting permission, would JetBlue risk their reputation just to have their aircraft properly represented in MSFS? Probably not, because it isn't key to their business. In the end, this process is an complete waste of time for a legal department. If they did pursue permissions, each agreement wold probably be 50 pages long and require multiple rounds of revisions by each company's legal departments. It just isn't worth the time/financial investment, especially considering that they would have to go though the process about 1,000 times to match what AIG-AIM brings to the table. Of course, all of the GA stuff in AIG also won't be able to be replicated. Those Gulfstreams I have flying around in P3D certainly wouldn't exist in MSFS, because Gulfstream is notoriously skittish about having their work appear in a sim. With the proper support from AS/MS and the FS community, AIG is the solution people want even they don't know it yet. Folks seem hell bent on cutting them down and twisting themselves into believing that there is a better solution. All of these issues have already been dealt with by AIG, and their P3D tool is a shining example of how a grassroots developers can innovate. They, unlike everyone else who has been mentioned, realized that producing the right tool required more than a tech solution, and this is a fact that is completely lost in these debates (and alternatives). They found a workaround for the legal issues, they made their partners' wishes a priority, and they provided a transformative AI experience. This seems like something we should celebrate here, yet... It is time to stop mourning the loss of the AI grentrifiers, and start lifting up the folks who have been thoughtfully working hard on these issues for years. It seems like any thread about AIG get a lot of comments about FSLTL (and other stuff). Maybe all of them should get locked and we can just start again with news that is specifically related to AIG? The big thing is that the project will no longer be closed, it's going to become an open community project that anyone can contribute to, and can have their work removed any time the want. It's basically going to be a hub for live traffic aircraft. Everything else is in the thread I linked above. Edited February 3, 20215 yr by Tuskin38

February 3, 20215 yr Cool stuff! I like the idea of the hub. I would assume it will be gateway kind of system that you upload your paint to and gets added to the system AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display
