Thanks for the heads up, Bert! Since I booted my laptop some minutes ago, I started seeing an error message saying this:

Quote

Some system components cannot be hooked right now. It is strongly recomended to restart application.

And a restart does not work (facepalm). However, with the Beta you mention, it works OK again.

Well that explains (probably) why I'm suddenly getting uncharacteristic stuttering and tearing.  Thanks for the heads up.

Did you know that you have a framelimiter in the NV driver since months? Why using RTSS for limiting fps?

It's highyl recommended to use internal frame limiters as long as you use V5.

For me the Nvidia limiter stutters, at least in windowed mode for me, and I could never find the right combination of settings to have Gsync function with it.  I also anecdotedly seem to have a higher number of device hung errors using the Nvidia limiter.  With RTSS 1/2 scanline sync, plus frames locked at 38 in the sim, it seems to be the smoothest experience.

If someone has gotten Gsync and a smooth experience in windowed mode otherwise, I'm definitely all ears (144 Hz, 1440p panel).

If any of you use RTSS to limit framerates in P3D and/or MSFS, you may find it is no longer working after the latest Windows update.  There is a new RTSS beta version available which solved it for me..

Thanks. Just realized  that something is wrong. BTW, there is also a newer MSI AB version available.

Says who?

With every new full or dot version I try several fps limiting methods. P3D Internal limiter, Monitor refresh rate @ 30 Hz (VSync on), NV CP frame rate limiter or RTSS limiter. At the end I mostly go with RTSS which gives me the best results. But there may be also some kind of placebo effect.

With 4.5 I use RTSS and half sync to get 30 hz on a 60 hz monitor. No Vsync and unlimited in the sim. Works quite well and gives around 30 fps.

Not for me. I’ve tested a multitude of different ways. Just like in v4 I get better results changing my monitor refresh rate to 30hz then using vsync

I was getting the same error message, I updated to Beta 10 version.

The error message is gone but I was getting CTD when selecting FSL A320-X.

I works perfect with default ac but as soon as I change it to FSL it stops working.

Anyone else with the same issues?

Rob and Simbol, thats enough pro advice for me.

@micstatic
So you also don't use external gfx tools to limit the frames, and thats good.

Ain't no placebo effect.

I've tested both extensively on my machine and it's RTSS hands down.
