SimWorks Studios working on a Kodiak

Featured Replies

From the Simworks facebook page:

"This week we completed the integration of the Engine Display which will work with the default and Working Title G1000. Being a little more advanced, the WT version will feature the ENGINE, SYSTEM and FUEL screens. The displays are being built so that they will switch seamlessly whether you have the WT mod or not."

Can't wait.

The Kodiak 100 from SimWorks Studios is almost ready, coming this summer. In the latest development update, the developers have shared some details about the current progress with their new aircraft. All is going well, with everything mostly complete. The focus is now on the flight model and adding checklists and sounds. The same goes for the overall systems. The Kodiak will get real samples that were recorded from a real aircraft.

The Kodiak will be released in two separate packages: a wheeled and an amphibian version. The wheeled version will come with Tundra, Summit, Skydive, cargo and mixed cargo/pax interiors, along with the option for a cargo pod, standard and tundra tyres. It will be available for 30€

According to the Facebook page, the Amphibious will be released after the X-Box version they said, and MS/Asobo add wakes, and they can test it. They also stated 15 Euros for the amphibious version. I was hoping for a price that included all versions? I'll have to wait for the reviews and the amphibious version release before I make my decision! Could be a very busy Fall for add on's for MSFS, maybe?

Hopefully if we buy the wheeled one we might get a discount on the amphibian when it comes out.

I think they were saying 15 euros for the addon pack later.

The question is: If Thandra's Kodiak (in XP) is so good (I never tried it so dunno), then can SWS do one equally good, or better even? Do they have what it takes?

Usually, you don't have to worry about SWS.  They tend to deliver.

No steam gauges?

Not sure that it actually ever had steam gauges, as it was built from about 2007 onwards.  I have personally only seen glass cockpits, but the plane is great anyway!

Try to watch this bush pilot on YouTube if you want to get a taste for it!
The guy actually is waiting for the Kodiak to arrive in MSFS.  He sometimes mentions MSFS in his videos, and a lot of people try to replicate his flights, for which he gives approach advice etc.  Proper aviation!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

There's never been a commercially released Kodiak with anything other than a glass cockpit.

Ah yes, so I see. A 21st century bush plane.

Well it runs the ubiquitous PT6 which has been around since the late 50's but design work on the Kodiak started in 1999 . It has an interesting history, the design was partially funded by money raised by churches, was intentionally designed for Missionary work, and for quite some time every 10th Kodiak made was sold by Quest at cost to anyone using it for Missionary work.

Here is an introductory video from the time it was first certified in 2007.
