I like it bring me more animation, wildlife, fire, smoke, traffic etc even if I run at 10 fps. It makes the game/sim more life like.

No performance hit at all, and i did go inside the terminal for a look in Bonaire. The guys creations are another level, and yes ti added to the immersion.. folk walking out to the Aircraft, or off the aircraft (West Jet)

This is not the first time there have been animated people in terminals/airports it has been done in P3D and FSX years ago, If its not your taste no one is forcing you to go inside terminals just stay in the cockpit spawn on the runway and take off, use the game as it fits you without trying to influence others how to use it. Happy flying.

I definitely get out of the plane and virtually travel through the terminals and I'm proud to admit it.  Its so dang cool!  The "virtual tourism" is a welcome benefit of virtually flying to a location.  How is this any different than the reason we fly to places in real life?

If I wanted to limit myself to a procedures simulator then I'd stick with X-Plane and be bored with a less immersive experience.

Sure there's a cost to things like this, but as we're talking about 3rd party additions, anyone with outdated tech can quite simply not by and install the product.  Those of us who have invested new tech and can enjoy these nice touches without a performance hit, shouldnt be saddled by the limitations of those who haven't which is what it seems like people are suggesting here.

None of Asobo’s airports have people in the terminals. So this comparison with Asobo’s 320 doesn’t make sense.

Your Asobo A320 or other aircraft, is flying into these very same payware (or freeware) airports. My point is that as the pilot, you, me, we, us, are sitting in a skeleton aeroplane more fascinated about stuff going on inside a terminal we never venture into, except maybe on the first time after buying the new airport. A sort of irony in it.

I look at some payware and freeware airports I own, I have wondered if it is necessary when all these modelled people are not visible from the flight deck. It surely comes at a FPS and GPU memory cost. That said, people walking out to the aircraft is pretty cool. At least you don’t need to go drone mode to see them.

You talk as though is some sort of compromise is required, these Devs are making great terminals and great airside detail, just look at some of the best addons for this sim. Why can’t they do both is the point if it appeases to both sets of people.

There has to be some compromise. Either FPS or GPU memory or both. I’m all for progress but let’s just hope that small municipal airports don’t start being becoming a stutter-fest because of human critters, perfectly modelled, taking a pee in the bathroom that you can’t possibly see while sitting in the cockpit.

Just so I am clear - It this because a 3rd party developer added people in the terminal area?   If this is a concern wouldn't you just not buy the add on?  Am I missing something?

I’ll take that as sarcasm 😊 I don’t think anyone wants to see any bathroom antics modelled but passengers walking to and from and aircraft/terminal yes and I don’t see why that would be so taxing on today’s GPU’s not to the point I would consider it a compromise that’s being made.

Yes pretty much, as no default airports are producing that animation. There seems to be a mix of people that don’t want the impact to performance and some perhaps more GA fliers that thing it’s a bit silly... I personally like it and it adds to the immersion aslong as the airport is well optimised then it shouldn’t be a big hit on performance. But like you say just don’t buy the add on is one solution.

When I want immersive flying (from a aircraft systems frame of reference only), I go to X-Plane, but be that as it may, until MSFS gets aircraft with mostly functional systems, X-Plane is where my time is spent.  Nevertheless and even though it's not something that would entice me to buy a payware airport for MSFS, the animated folk in the terminals etc, is a nice touch for those liking that bit of xtra environmental immersion.  I haven't purchased any payware airports for MSFS yet or have any moving terminal people that I know of, but I wonder if the developers are including any type of setting that can turn off the moving people or even keep them from spawning - if it's a performance issue for some?

I would actually go even further and want the proper first person walk around of the terminals, not just the drone view and certainly have them well populated with people doing the things people, erm, do at the airport. I'd like to strut through the waiting area towards the jetway with my Captains hat at a jaunty angle going, "Morning, morning, morning" heck I'd even like passengers to come up to me after the flight and congratulate me (or otherwise) on my landing.

MSFS is soulless as it is, without missions, careers, or any form of progression mode. Most other transport sims, whether train, truck or anything else  now have animated people and some do it very well. So bring it on I say.

Yeah it would be nice for the devs to add an option to turn off all that foolishness

So you are concerned about AI people, please don't look inside this ⬇️

Just curious.  Are they purposely trying to slow down our computers?  I'm trying to wrap my head around why they would add people (sometimes moving around) inside an airport terminal in MSFS.  How many of you have actually got out of your aircraft an gone inside to see what's going on.  I just think the resources could be better spent making the simulator work more smoothly.  I remember a long long time ago a I was getting such a kick out of taxiing a 747 around an airport when a friend of mine says to me "It's a FLIGHT simulator, not a TAXI simulator".  Can we save the people moving around INSIDE the terminal for the world simulator and make the flight simulator fly smoothly first?  Just a thought!

God...you would absolutely hate my sim style then...😂

I drive to the airport... walk through the terminal high fiving the children....winking at their mothers and board my plane to start from cold and dark...fly to destination.. taxi aircraft...grab rental car and head to my hotel ..with my favorite stewardesses🤣
