Good luck taking overseas company`s too court.

Overseas companies don't sell in the UK, Importers do, and that is who ends up in court if they are not able to provide in accordance to local laws, these laws already exist on other countries and do work

Yes Amazon was told to withdraw the products from sale which they do only to reappear at a later date, when you order a product on Amazon delivery can take some time as it comes from China Amazon have a large Wearhouse in Manchester but they do not stock some overseas products, so you are not buying from Amazon but from the seller in what ever country they are in. They are just the go between that`s why on some product if you have a problem they may pass you on to the seller which could be abroad.

How many is some? Must say, in all the years I've been buying from Amazon I've never dealt with anyone abroad. Always UK companies.

Some are now seeing an extra charge tax on goods from abroad AKA the EU, I had a problem with a product and was told they would forward my problem to the seller as Amazon are only the shop window and not the seller, and in the small print of T&C`s Amazon are not responsible for third party product but no one reads them. Amazon are like Ebay Amazon do not pay corporation tax in the UK and are not a UK based company, Big tech have government's in there pockets.

You must have missed the story in the press about phone chargers and electrical goods sold on Amazon all made in CHINA like most things now. And bursting into flames.

Some 6 years back I bought a microwave oven to replace the 25 year old Sanyo microwave I had.

The Sanyo still worked, it was just that the radiation seal had deteriorated and was falling apart and no parts because it was ~25 years old.

The new microwave lasted 2 weeks after the warranty ran out...(it had a 2 year warranty).

Fortunately in Australia we have a nice little law that says goods must be fit for purpose no matter the warranty period.

And white goods should give at least 10 years operation even it they only have a one year warranty.

So I took that broke microwave back to the store and invoked the law.

And the supplied replacement is still going strong after 4 years (fingers crossed).

I love our ACCC, they are also the ones who forced Steam into providing a refund option.

I know the feeling. I bought a microwave a few years ago and literally a few weeks after the warranty was up I noticed it was rusty inside. Complained to the company and they totally ignored me, didn't reply. Nice!

All these companies aim for is for a product to last the warranty period and then they couldn't care less. This is why I like companies, like EVGA for example, who are so confidant its a good product they give you a 10 year warranty.

Yes true but if you were going to buy a home appliance from a local box store, that is the protection you are looking for on those high ticket items with these laws. For something from Amazon and a seller in China wouldn't be a major appliance or a car or something that does require protections for a consumer on the same level, it may be a small electronics item or similar and in that case buyer beware.

O that's rrhea clever of you....

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Just reminds me 3 of my recent exprernce:

1.The glass on my induction cooker embeded in my table was broken (due to heat), As it's still in warranty, I contact the online seller, but they told me this seller have been transfered and now they only sell beds, no parts could be provied. now I run it with some glue applyed on the glass, the cracks are growing....

2.The fan on my humidifier are making very load noise, I take the humidifier apart, and find the fan, I tried some WD40 but it doesn't work. the sticker on the fan shows it's model, I ordered one online, replaced it, totally fixed.

3.The induction motor on my air purifier was dead, I take the purifier apart, but couldn't find any mark of models or so on the motor, I tried to ask the online seller but no reply. I also send some picture to some motor seller but no one could find the fit one. So I just take the motor apart, find out it's run out of lubrication, after apply some lubrication my self, it works again.

I live in a country where the right to repair is more the necessity to repair. The average salary here is pretty low for most people. To that end, there is a very healthy, repair it and keep it going culture here. There are many third party repair centres that specialise in repairing certain named brands and they do a very good job at tiny prices compared to the OEMs. I had to repair a Nikon lens, Nikon quoted me the best part of $800 for the repair, here I got it done to a very high standard for $125. I have also repaired a Krupps coffee machine three times (for three different problems) before eventually binning it as completely useless. Like the other poster, Krupps head office did not even acknowledge my emails.
The moral is, the right to repair needs to be culturally driven, enterprising entrepreneurs need to set up repair shops with trained technicians and consumers need to stop accepting a manufacturers "built in" working life as gospel.

Plant based potatoes introduced in UK....

In fairness, it's vegan, so no milk or butter as in normal mash... So they are right in pointing out the plant based aspect...

Cheers
