TDS Sim releases GTNXi!

What's the point? A pop out window open with a GTNXi yet your planes cockpit is showing a GNS 530. Talk about taking away from the immersion of simulation.

Different strokes...some people may place a higher value on utility over immersion. Personally I’m waiting to see what Working Title does with the default systems before I jump on this, but that’s just me.

This SDK topic became an excuse for these developers. We know that is not truth and it is becoming tiring to hear this symphony of "SDK is not ready"

Hey Omar

Tiberiu has put on the FSX/P3D market the same addon, one of the five best of the precedent generation of sims. I had it and it was wonderful. If he says that he faces SDK limitations right now, I tend to believe him.  There is absolutely no doubt that MFS and accompanying tools are works in progress.

Anyway the product is on the market, it suits your need or it doesn't. You buy it or you don't.  End of the story. Insulting a developer who has proven himself beyond reasonable doubt,is a bit out of line, IMHO.

The company should hire one of the talented members to integrate this into the panel, before putting it on sale.

I'm also tired of hearing this repeated ad nauseum. You built a standalone executable and not an actual community mod/addon using the SDK at all. What did you think was going to happen?

This is like me complaining notepad.exe can't be integrated into a panel because of SDK limitations.

Some of the comments in this thread are hard to comprehend. A MSFS team member has stated in this forum that it is not possible to integrate a RXP/F1/TDS style GPS into the VC of an MSFS aircraft. Yet, you know it better and throw all kind of accusations towards the developer?!

The missing VC integration doesn't mean that the TDS GTNXi is a bad product. Quite the opposite...I have the GTNXi on my iPad and enjoy it a lot. It's by far the best navigation system for MSFS that is available on the market. And with the iPad, or any other tablet, one can use it the way it was designed for...as a touch device.

Of course, if you are happy with the toy-like MSFS default GPS, don't care about coupled LPV approaches or true to life Garmin avionics, then this product is indeed not the right choice for you. But do me a favor and stop insulting the developer who has created a great product that enhances the sim experience considerably for a lot of us.

Where in what I stated , that you quoted, did you find that I insulted the developer, or did you just make that up.?

Great point...this seems like a good buy considering what MSFS offers stock at the moment.

How does it compare to this one?

Sorry I didn't want to insult any developers but it came out as frustration from what we read from "some" third party developers here in Avsim (I think you know who ;))

Indicating that a developer should hire someone who has the talent to do it right is an insult in my opinion. As it clearly states that the developer lacks the talent.

Not sure about all of the ins and outs, but I like how the GTNXi can be used as a touch screen on the ipad.

The thread was really sliding sideways 😃. Tiberiu has been rather low key on the issue and doesn’t deserve to put in the same bag than some  others.

I'm very aware of what you're referring to. 🙂

We just had a lively debate about a well-known commercial dev put a ported FSX shell on the market for $30, and now we see another that I guess from a certain point of view is doing a "similar" thing....but I truly believe that is not the case here.

This dev is very reputable (unlike the other), and putting out a product that his background validates he has good knowledge on the subject. Unfortunately, we all lack a certain level of knowledge on the intricate inner-workings of MSFS, so I'm not faulting any dev for that.  At least he is trying to bring a product to the market that is in demand, at least its functionality.

I see great value in the product, and would not rule it out as a purchase because I highly value system fidelity vs VC integration.

As we all know in the "real" world...you'd be tapping on the GNS's screen to interact with it...not push a mouse over a button or place on the virtual screen and click it.  So this app, loaded on a tablet sitting on my desk, with an actual touch-screen interface, is my preferred interaction and "immersion" method, period.

Sure, it would be great if it also mirrored in the VC....but that, to me, would be mostly cosmetic and I'd NEVER use it to navigate or interact with it as I'd have to move my eyepoint from the standard flying view, fuss with it, then return to the view.  With it on my desk, I glance over at it, and if I need to interact with it...well...you know.  To me....THAT is immersion because that is what you'd do in the real world.

There are still a few things I'd like to research on it...but if they work out, I'd be a customer for sure.  At least I know that when I go to the support site for help, I won't get treated like most of the customers from that "other" dev are. 🙄

Steve Dra

Someone stated this " We just need to hope that one of our talented members will come up with a way to integrate this or the RXP version when its finally released.", which is what my comment addressed

If you find that insulting to developers  your reading compression is lacking.

This is the product that I'll be supporting.

I have the GTN750 integrated into the panel in some of my a/c in P3D, but find it is often more convenient to popup it up and put it on a second monitor or tablet where I can access it as touch screen and resize it to fit my needs. It is very common in real world flying these days to have a moving map app, such as ForeFlight, etc., on a tablet. Even the airlines make good use of tablets. So I consider having a 'popup' GTN750 in MSFS that can be moved to a second monitor or tablet both a desirable and a realistic feature. What I don't like is having to use a panel MFD screen to view a GTN GPS -- that to me is a kludge and not realistic.

To each their own.

That's what I've been saying since this was released. In panel is purely cosmetic to me, much more efficient to popup the gauge and work that way.
