Very dark cockpit in 5.2

Featured Replies

How to make the cockpit in 5.2 brighter. What was a problem in 5.1 I think has deteriorated in this version. The cockpit is crazy too dark and I can not find a setting that improves this.

One option is to add some lighting with the (freeware) FSLabs spotlights program, although I'm not certain it's 5.2 compatible yet.

I also read elsewhere that v5.2 has some new config file options to limit the min/max brightness (exposure)...I am going to be waiting a while for my critical add-ons to catch up before updating to 5.2, so I can't offer specifics.

Looks like we can't have best of both worlds....either dark outside/bright inside or dark inside light out....

Chaseplane isn't updated yet, but changing the cockpit lighting is one of its great functions.

ChasePlane has been updated.

Of course, the cockpit is not that dark IF you turn off EA.  I'd like to keep EA on, but the dark cockpits keep making me revert back to the brighter world overall without it.

That's what I see. When I turn EA on the cockpit is very dark. With it off everything is normal.

LM fundamentally ignores the dark cabin or cannot influence it. Only the blind cannot see it.

Have you checked auto exposure under lighting.  That made mine not so dark.

Still Really? This was one of the top complaints I thought.

Are you sure that you were not experiencing the solar eclipse? Today there was a solar eclipse which was accurately depicted by Enhanced Atmospherics, causing everything to look extremely dark.

Cockpit brightness issue has improved, not deteriorated, so I'd recommend trying again given that the solar eclipse is over now.

I had no idea it could do this.  How?

I was reacting to this quote above - "Chaseplane isn't updated yet, but changing the cockpit lighting is one of its great functions"

When I tried further, it seems that the A2A Comanche stands out as particularly affected by a dark cockpit with EA activated in 5.2. Neither Leonardo MD-82 nor Q400 seems to be affected negatively and the lighting looks perfectly ok. I have made a post in A2A forum.
