Very dark cockpit in 5.2

Featured Replies

With auto exposure on and using the beautiful new feature "live graphics" you can obtain beautiful lighting results, even in the cockpit!

I had no idea it could do this.  How?

Under the camera settings it has sliders to adjust the saturation, bloom, and brightness that overrides the P3d settings.

When I tried further, it seems that the A2A Comanche stands out as particularly affected by a dark cockpit with EA activated in 5.2. Neither Leonardo MD-82 nor Q400 seems to be affected negatively and the lighting looks perfectly ok. I have made a post in A2A forum.

For me I have experienced the A2A Comanche cockpit not only to be dark but completely black with VR. After that once there was an error message saying
Your VR device has reported this error
VRCompositorErrorsTextureusedunsupportedformat
any one recognize this ? It seem the update solve some problems and creates new

The A2A Bonanza cockpit is also much too dark for my liking. A shame this was not corrected in 5.2.

Yes, completely frustrating that the dark cockpits still persist.

Chaseplane isn't updated yet, but changing the cockpit lighting is one of its great functions.

Chaseplane has lighting function? Where?

I believe it's Preferences -> Camera.

It is correct that Chaseplane has a lightning function in the camera tab. It is possible to get lighter in the cockpit but it has its price. Because you have to pull up the light so much, the clouds will be completely eroded seen from inside the cockpit

That's why I like FSL Spotlights as a solution--it places light sources in the cockpit to brighten things up inside without affecting the outside view.

One option is to add some lighting with the (freeware) FSLabs spotlights program, although I'm not certain it's 5.2 compatible yet.

I also read elsewhere that v5.2 has some new config file options to limit the min/max brightness (exposure)...I am going to be waiting a while for my critical add-ons to catch up before updating to 5.2, so I can't offer specifics.

FSL Spotlights is not compatible with 5.2 unfortunately. Will need to see if it gets updated. The lighting control GUI will cause CTD if you select the lighting ON or load a model with the ini in that state.

I'm pretty sure it'll get updated relatively soon, as the FSL Scarebus add-ons require it for their lighting (the reason it was developed in the first place).

It appears to brighten both the virtual cockpit and the outside environment in my sim.

Yup...best feature...however we still need to have balance. They should solve that darkness inside.
