SDK UPDATE

  • General
    • The new SDK DevSupport platform is now live! Create your account on https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com, make sure to take a look at the guidelines, and then you can start exploring all the ideas, questions, and answers shared by the community! This space is 100% dedicated to the SDK, so no other topics will be discussed here.
    • Save the date: the 2nd SDK live Q&A session will take place on Wednesday, June 16th. This time, we will focus on the Scenery Editor! You can post any questions related to this Editor on the dedicated forum thread here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sdk-q-a-scenery-editor-questions/406757.
  • Dev Mode
    • In the Project Editor:
      • We improved messaging in the Project Editor to ensure users are following the flow that corresponds to their needs and they do not tamper with the generated package after its generation.
    • In the Marketplace Data Editor:
      • We now make sure that an empty support contact field returns a warning instead of an error.
    • We fixed corrupted asset group paths when creating a VFX library.
    • In the Scenery Editor:
      • We fixed an issue that made polygons with errors disappear from the shapefiles.
      • We also improved the tree structure.
      • When using the filter, objects that match the filter will now open the hierarchy up to them.
      • The Show Error and Show Warning buttons now select the object and center the camera on it.

Glitz and promises!  Personally spending about an hour a day accumulating mods and addon for this MSFS.  So still hopeful.  Still more hours per week doing that than flying it.  Appears they have locked out 3rd party weather and 3rd party trainer based avionics with associate navdata.  Those are the core of my flying endeavors.  And so I look to the future for flights in live conditions, and fly MSFS for eye-candy pleasure.  That's fine.  But now almost 9 months into this.

The list of things appears to be getting bigger and bigger with no end in sight. I wonder why this update was so small, they must be busy behind the scenes!

Tony, Tony, Tony!  Was referring to X-box.  But of course you know that!  LOL!  Have a great evening!

BTW, never adopted Xplane so not on that page.  No P3D either.  System constraints precluded those until August 2020 when I build this system for MSFS.  Runs FSX SE and enhancements just fine.  MSE3 looks great at 8,000 and above....  When cloud cover is not what is in view.  Then AS16 and REX textures totally rule!  Just cannot justify a P3D config or XP learning curve or addons expense.  Flying fully satisfied until MSFS maturation arrives.  Meanwhile I continue to build my library of MSFS addons and mods.  Not a naysayer here.  Just flying real time, real time conditions, following real time sports teams schedules.  I fly my sims as if I drove to the airport today and flew as if flying in today's conditions down to the hour.....

fppilot,

Mate, of course I new that but I thought that my comment was hilarious with the misconstruing of the X factor.  My sick sense of humor I guess.

I fly mostly MSFS with a big back up from XPlane 11. I do all this in VR now ... I have not had a flight without VR since HiFlyer guided me to a very satisfying experience.

I find XPlane in VR much better then MSFS and has very much better aircraft at the moment, but, of course, MSFS has the better visuals. Both are amazing in VR

P3D v4.5 and 5.1 have so far been a bitter disappointment in VR. However, 5.2 seems to addressed some of these issues so I have already downloaded that and will install today to see what has actually occurred.

I agree, that if I had not invested a considerable amount of money into P3D and XPlane and today I viewed a video comparison between them, There would not be a choice. MSFS wins hands down.  However, now that I have spent the money I am not going to throw the goodness of any flight sim platform simply because of MSFS.  In fact, shockingly, since MSFS release, I have only bought payware products for Xplane ... go figure.  This will all change once MSFS reaches the level of stability that the other two have achieved.

I find it very interesting to see how other people are reacting to MSFS.  There are people out there, I believe, who have not even bothered with MSFS and have remained faithful to P3D or XPlane or indeed, both.  We are all very different flavours of Vegemite I guess.

Regards

Tony

They said three months ago that Sim Update 4 would be merged with World Update 5, that didn't seem to go through though. While it was stated that they want to reduce the amount of active branches, I don't think they said anything in regard to Sim Update 5 specifically.
