HDR ON or OFF?

Featured Replies

What do you guys prefer? Not sure what looks better. But the default setting is HDR on. not sure why, since not everyone has an HDR capable display.

Yes you do. Otherwise that setting does nothing.

You need a HDR10 capable display.

I found HDR looked horrible at dusk/night.  Blacks were washed out and inconsistent.  I don’t have an OLED monitor but I’ve heard good things about them.

I can't turn HDR off it's fixed in the on position.

HDR10 mode in anything will look terrible if you don't have a HDR10 capable display and correct type of HDMI cable.

My guess is that HDR is set to on in your Windows settings, overriding the sim? Not entirely sure. But I know there is a HDR toggle somewhere in Windows settings.

Turn on the Windows 10 HDR, open the simulator, turn off HDR, go back to the Windows and turn back off

If you are using an actual HDR screen that maybe related to the port you are using.

My AOC 1440p only offers HDR on one particular port (the Display Port if I remember correctly).

Cool I'll try the other port

For me, the need to turn HDR on in Windows for having it in the sim is the reason I keep it off, as HDR on in Windows results in washed out apps and desktop. I prefer solutions where you can use HDR in the game without turning it globally on...
