Microsoft Flight Simulator | Sim Update 5 | INCREDIBLE!!

Good performance at the cost of cartoon clouds and over saturated colours. My performance was good enough anyway so this is a step back for me. It's like they have added Bloom x 10 with no way to turn it off.

isn't there a usercfg.opt fix for oversaturation?

Have changed it from 1 to 0 in both places but is still looks over done to me.

it's always looked like that to me when flying at altitude tbh

Your clouds have always looked like that? With that banding? It looked better in FSX and that's saying something. Before today the cloud textures were one of the best things for me.

over-saturation

Just did a test flight with FBW A320. The performance improvement was really noticeable. But still some blurry textures in the distance and the tree line... Hmm, have to make another flight and think about that. But very good update still.

If you have headroom in your PC, try to push the LOD to 3.0 or 4.0 in the UserOpt.cfg

I'm getting CTDs in map mode so I learned you cant zoom in and out too quickly.  I'm also getting a bizarre frame rate decrease right at the moment of liftoff in the FBW A320,  I also noticed that the FBW A320 cockpit has gone wonky. Many of the textures are flickering and I have tried to remedy this to no avail.  So if someone knows how to fix it please let me know.

easy, get the latest version.

SU5 has given me a decent framerate boost and loading times have improved but it seems buggy as hell.  My curser keeps disappearing and I get random pauses/stutters lasting about 10 seconds which seem to occur when I reduce power and descend.  I've had to apply the usercfg fix, legacy fix and make some big adjustments to my monitor settings to reduce brightness and increase saturation along with a colour balance tweak. Panning is no longer smooth either.

One step forward and 5 steps back for me I'm afraid.  My simulator ran much smoother, looked and felt more realistic, I had better clouds, my stutters had all gone and everything was running pretty good before this update.  I really wish it was possible to go back.

I'm running a fairly decent rig with an RTX3070 gpu and a 5600x cpu from a 1 TB m.2 drive and I can't believe what they have done to the sim.

Thanks for the tip, might try that. I assume it is that terrain lod factor under graphics which is now 1.0000000?

yes but pretty much depending on your PC specs.

Ok so just try it quickly

For me it seems to be a massive improvement in FPS and smoothness which is really good 😄

Only problems I saw for now are :

- TBM improvement mod not working

- Working title G1000/3000 seems broken, got only black screen on garmin now

- Longitude middle screen is completely black, so don't know if it is because of the mod or WT g3000 problem

At least it force me to go back to the C152 and enjoy low altitude and VFR flight 😄

😄

More observations, London City heading to Scotland, I was getting no lower than 35fps in EGLC - but often in the mid forties, this at 1440P LODs 200, that's a good increase for me where in the past I would have been at mid 20s - same res but 100 Lods.

cruising I'm holding 60+fps but have upped my resolution scaling to 120%, this drives my GPU to about 84% - 150% scaling equals GPU at 100% usage.

Glass cockpit refresh rates, I cannot see a noticeable difference between medium and high now, where as before medium was jerky to my eyes - there's about 2 or 3 frames difference between them - so nothing really, Low I gain 7 to 8 frames, but it's too jerky for me so won't be using that setting.

still testing...................

still tempted to upgrade my CPU, and will probably now also go 4k
