The graphics look different, like the graphics on a consul, but I suppose I will have to get used to them. The clouds dont look right either.

Reducing my max framerate in v sync from 60 to 30 seems to have smoothed things out tor me, but what the hell has asobo done with the colouring!  All the textures both on the ground and in the cockpit are washed out and look terrible.  I've tweaked the usercfg and made it read only to no avail and decreased brightness, increased contrast and changed the colour balance in my monitor settings, but it still looks awful.

The tool tips have got huge, so much so that I sometimes can't see what I am using a knob for even though they are supposedly disabled in settings and sometimes appear with what looks like a POI marker in the cockpit.

I have 10 or 15 second stutters and pauses every time I use the slew button too

Great FPS improvements for me but that's it,

It will need a couple of weeks to get fixed

Both are truly awful

Most significant is the smoothness.  Definitely have a performance increase fps wise but its not a giant leap. If your colors are off, try fooling around with HDR on and off, and or the color profiles in the nvidia CP color profiles. Have zero stutters at all. Just the very long pausing which is a hard freeze.  No one else seems to be getting this, so must be something to do with my system.

Dont find the LOD that bad at all.   Sure things can be tweaked and improved.  Now to get updated mods in. I think that PC users should have more control over the use of resources.   Have 32gb of ram, with 21 still available, but if the extra overhead can help out with any overloading, by all means use it.  Thats what its there for. Even vram usage is rather low compared to the total 11gb on the 2080ti. Im guessing this was all trimmed down for xbox users.

Overall, great job MS/Asobo.  Lots of work went into this.  Much appreciated.

Ok so just try it quickly

For me it seems to be a massive improvement in FPS and smoothness which is really good 😄

Only problems I saw for now are :

- TBM improvement mod not working

- Working title G1000/3000 seems broken, got only black screen on garmin now

- Longitude middle screen is completely black, so don't know if it is because of the mod or WT g3000 problem

At least it force me to go back to the C152 and enjoy low altitude and VFR flight 😄

😄

Download new working title NXi G1000 mod in marketplace now.

Impressive is all I can say.  I have a few settings to change back, but my overall experience is just great.  Where I was getting mid 30 to 40 FPS, I'm sitting at 78 currently on Medium settings.  MSFS is a keeper for sure.  The update went flawless for me and the results of the work Asobo has put in is incredible to put it lightly.

EDIT: I wasn't trying to gloss over what some are seeing with my post.  I do agree the clouds and washed out scenery need to be tweaked - but from where we're coming from, I'll take it., but outside of that so far, it's a great update for me.

I love the smell of Jet-A in the morning!

Yeterday, I have set up some scenarios (different locations, starting from runway / in the air, cockpit view, external view etc., C152 for steam gauges and C172 for glass-cockpit) to thest the framerates in SU4 and now in SU5.

I didn't expect much but, wow, was I wrong. 😲😵

Depending on the scenario, I get from 15% to a whopping 42% increase in framerate (mostly from mid 30s the mid 40s). In areas where the fps wheren't good at all in SU4 (over cities like London and New York ) the increase was biggger (25% up to 42%), I can now fly over NY with a framerate of 40, yeah! b4 it was mid to low 20s.

In areas where they why quite high before (for. ex. Bora Bora) the increase wasn't that big.

Btw., has something noticed that Bora Bora has significantely improved with a big rock formation on the central island? I wonder where else the improved the landscape!

I didn't notice any increased stutter as well.

What I noticed is the the gear on the c172 and the X cub with floats, the landing gear can't be retracted, not with the "G" key nor with the lever in the cockpit (though the lever moves when i press "G").

Furthermore, the wakes just work with the Icon A5, not with the C172 and any other floatplane (with the addon planes this was to be expected, imho)

I finally could land and taxi in EDDF without any stutters at 35 or so fps in the FBW A320 at 4k Resolution. Wonderful!

Hope this helps?

WORKAROUND FOR THE OVEREXPOSED SKY AND CLOUDS: To disable the unrealistic overexposed sky and clouds effect seen from the cockpit view, if unable to use the HDR10, is to edit one value in the UserCfg.opt file. To find this UserCfg.opt file, go to your Community folder, and then “Go up” by two folders. Open the UserCfg.opt file with the Notepad and search for “ColorGrading 1”. Change the ColorGrading (in both Version 66 and GraphicsVR sections) value from 1 to 0, then save and close the file before launching the MSFS. Check out the before and after screenshots to see the difference. If changing the graphics settings via in-sim, it might set the ColorGrading value back to 1, so you’ll need to apply this workaround again then.

+1

I also dont have these popups as reported but it might be specific to TrackIR users? I upped for 30FPS/VSYNC from 25 and it seems quite good all-though it still dips down when panning but much better smooth overall.

Also i am able to increase resolution a bit which also is a bonus.

The Wold map does not follow my choice of airport directly selected ? Anyone notice this also ? It used to jump to location selected.

The freezes for up to 2 minutes i also noticed (not on every flight though - and sometimes in menu)

I am delighted and I am a Track IR user. Getting 40fps flying low over London at 4k (80% render) in the FBW320. Loving it. Barely notice the pop in autogen and I am running on a 32inch monitor.

Why isn’t anyone else talking about the return of the giant trees? It looks like humanity hasn’t been around for 50 years. Everything is overgrown and looks ridiculous like it did a few releases back.

Good performance at the cost of cartoon clouds and over saturated colours. My performance was good enough anyway so this is a step back for me. It's like they have added Bloom x 10 with no way to turn it off.

So you are complaining about over saturated colors and others about washed out color. It's obvious that your monitor might be in one of those modes that make the colors more saturated. My monitor is in srgb mode and I don't have any color saturation or overly bright bloom
