No, but I backed both up and tried deleted, WOW what a bad idea, MSFS wanted to download 112GB update. I had to not only close sim I had to reboot add both back then and lucky all was well.

DONT EVER DELETE YOU CONTENT.xml

I did several times, no issue on my side with deleting content.xml. sorry that you got troubles...

At ultra settings I am also seeing what Nyxx is seeing as well. The 2 buildings on the right do not have windows or much texturing to them. Are you sure you're not using Rex or Zinertek textures or some 3rd party addons? My LODs are set to 4.0 as well.

I am in the same boat, I was not bothered about FPS as I went out and spent money for a better PC that can handle better FPS and would allow me to move from High to Ultra settings. My goal was graphical excellence.

Now I have better FPS but visually its now worse than the high graphic settings I had originally plus more CTDs. Its gone in the wrong direction for me.

Relax everybody the whole focus has been prep for Xbox.  There is still probably some optimizing happening there.  When that is completed I fully expect restoring control over detail will be developed.   

This being said, I did this a few updates back when we were seeing heinous FPS drops, took a holiday and went back to P3D which isn't half bad as long as you fly at night .   I'm not happy w/ what has transpired for clarity and detail and I had made peace w/ realizing my hardware was not up to the task of Ultra on everything and so dialed back LOD and some sliders to High, and even two to Medium, and it was look and flying quite well.  I have many sliders to Ultra now and still there is a softness/blurriness I'm not accustomed to in MSFS, so will park it a while and see what transpires. IOW, relax.

@Nyxx have you been able to resolve the issue? I see exactly the same effect, when I load up the sim using "ultra" settings, it looks like in your case:

However, if I then go in the graphics menue, switch to "medium", click on "apply & save" and then back to "ultra" and "apply & save", the proper "ultra" returns and it looks like @devgrp

I have a guess, it seems that MSFS now does not like anymore if the UserOpt.cfg is manipulated somehow, as I did change "sharpen" to 0 inbetween. I am now testing if "ultra" sticks, when not manipulating the file...

Hi Chris,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to test this. 

Intresting is, I set my Setting to LOW, saved rebooted the sim...as is needed for some setting to take/work.

Then I went to Ultra, so now its still un solved for me. But you say

I never did that. Devgrp did as he did all of them. 

Intresting to see if your Ultra still sticks. It seems from what you have found that you need to set Med then goto Ultra. I am at work so if you have the time please carry on. its great to see your results and for you to take this time.

It begs the question as I am, still not on "ultra" by the looks of it, just how many people think there on Ultra and the Sim is giving "LOW" graphices? ( or a mix???)

So what we thought all this time that was Ultra was really not? Jeez, what the heck Asobo? Now we're having issues with getting settings to stick. Not only here but also other parts such as the plane's customization section as well.

I'll have to give this a try and see if I get the same results. If we delete out useropt.cfg file, will the sim create a new one at launch?

Sadly, it is a negative. Setting on "ultra", leaving MSFS, returning into the sim and again it looks like low. It seems I have to go into the graphics options each time I fired up MSFS and do the setting switch including "apply & save", otherwise the "ultra" settings do not stay... Hopefully someone knows how to solve this...

If not, then this needs to be brought to Asobo's attention. Wonder if anyone has filed this report so they can look into it. Not sure if this is affecting only a number or people or everyone who runs at Ultra preset.

All you have to do is goto EGNX runway 27, drone view press R and see what you see above.

Please report and show us if you have the time, thank you, we now need as many as possable to test this even @devgrp to reset from low to ultra.

This is ridiculous. All this time I thought I was using Ultra when the textures are actually LOW-MED. For those of you running ultra preset, could you check and confirm if this issue is affecting you as well. I want to see if this is a widespread problem or just affects a random crowd.
