Asobo are smart, I'm sure they'll find a way to put the extra fidelity back in the sim but working that in with the optimised rendering will probably still take time. Everything takes time believe it or not. I always stand by this, dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. I would appear with flight sims at least, this is very accurate. Wow. Am sorry you seem to have mist the gist of this topic, its about if you had read it through it, that it looks like setting are not sticky. Chris has now posted on there forums, should we not find and report probelms, setting not sticking has nothing to do with performance. David Murden. Yet, no one suggested to downgrade the visuals to get better performance. That's an easy fix. What would be more challenging would be to actually optimize the sim so that the GPU, GPU, and RAM are being used as efficiently as possible. As many have done, I also bought a new PC so that I could finally turn everything up to Ultra. Let us have the option. Don't take away the quality. If my PC can't handle the top level of graphics, let me decide to lower the levels. But, don't deprive us of what we know was there just a week ago. Some people do go over the top, but the backlash is understandable. The extra performance is great, but if that performance increase entails a degradation in visuals then I would prefer the option to choose not to have the extra performance. July 31, 20214 yr There's something else going on with textures: This is with building textures on "High": No Windows on the building: This is also with building textures on "High": I did not change the setting in between. Windows on the second building are there, not "yet" on the last one: If i move the camera more foward, they start to show up on the last building to. The only thing i did was moving forward the drone camera a little bit. So the distance where the extra building textures start to show is really low. July 31, 20214 yr Lange, thanks for sharing your results with us. This problem is very strange. We are trying to pinpoint what is the cause of this issue. From the looks of it. It does appear to be tied to a LOD or rendering issue. If that's the case, then there's nothing much we can do on our side. It's something that Asobo must fix. July 31, 20214 yr You are right captain, even in DEV mode there are new problems with how the textures are working. I won't go into it all, but I'm surprised you guys were able to figure it out outside of the DEV mode. That's some good detective work. If you go into dev mode, you will find various new texture mapping problems as well as some weird issues with LOD on certain types of objects. Not sure if the two are directly related, but I'm sure at least indirectly related. Edited July 31, 20214 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
July 31, 20214 yr Author I just did the testing at EGNX as suggested by @Nyxx and others and can confirm that settings at ULTRA are not retained between two sessions. I found also that I could reach real ULTRA settings (with windows at the right-hand white buildings) only one time. All my other attempts it looks like my settings stick at medium or high. That means I see the ventilators on the top of the left-side building but no windows at the right-side buildings. Did you guys have changed LOD values in UserCfg.opt? - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

Did you guys have changed LOD values in UserCfg.opt? I have not changed that file, I am running 100% default and see similar issues. Asobo has made major changes to the internal renderer and how it renders different LODs, but that wasn't the only change. They also actually added new decimated LODs, because Asobo apparently used to have several objects that were all 1-LOD based, and now they made sure all their objects have multiple LODs for Xbox performance (and PC perf I guess). So there is a lot of things and variables in the problem that may be causing it. There is also a known state serialization problem with some of the settings, it's best to reboot, set up your settings ONCE and don't mess with them if you know about what you need to use (not that doing that will help this specific issue, but just in general). Thank you for running the test, When you use the pre set Low its resets LOD levels to a level. Ultra set to 200/200, but even when I set 300/300 EGNX is still showing as LOW-MED. It seems now we have to set and reset and even then it does not stick...... Thank you Harry for testing. David Murden.
