AI generated buildings - Visuals decreased?

Featured Replies

Fantastic catch!! Thanks to all who found this! It's made the world of difference! I fly on High and it applies equally. I've been unknowingly flying on low or medium! It's not just the buildings, it's the lighting and shadows as well! It's everything.

Also not sticking is the FPS limiter. So when you switch to low end you also have to disable the FPS limiter and switch it back on. EDIT. No that's just plain broken it would seem.

I almost completed a flight from KDEN>KRNO in the Longitude, after doing Harry's Trick.  I must say from clouds to terrain it all looked pretty SU4.  Unfornately it CTD on final.  There is something wrong with altitude in that ATC directs me to expedite my climb or descent X when I'm at X.  Seems its 200 to 800' off depending on altitude.  Too early to say for sure but w/ the EyeAdaptation=0 plus some fine tuning w/ NCP's desktop color interface it seems quite good again.   I hope it holds up because I spent a good 6h today trying to get the PMDG NGXu off the ground for reasons I won't go into, and in fact never did!

Actually, it was David who found the (workaround) trick ... And yes, it is not the buildings only, the other visuals like cloud, water and terrain come back to "real ultra" too.

I just did the same test at ENSB and can confirm that the same thing happens there as well. So this is pretty much a global problem and an important one that needs to be fixed ASAP.

So to be clear, are you still having to do the workaround or is there an easier way then having to go back and forth all the time?

Some people were claiming it was just their NVIDIA Experience changing it, but it seems to be 2 separate problems?

For me, it has nothing to do with GeForce Experience. I don't have it enabled for MSFS. I had to use the workaround method posted here to get it to switch to Ultra.

Yes, appears that way for me as well, just making sure I wasn't missing something in my GE-Force settings.

The problem with topics this long, lots of things get looked over. Totally understand way.

Bottom line is a few of us have never had GE-Force installed. It’s DDU uninstall and drivers only install.

Alright so that EGNX thing happens to me, too, but I don't see any other effect, it's certainly not suddenly all crisp or whatever. Clouds e.g. look exactly the same (made two screenshots to compare).

Apart fromt that, is there any possibility I could keep my usercfg changes (colorgrading = 0) after doing this? Unfortunately changing graphics settings resets colorgrading to 1, which is overexposition hell on my end.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

IMO the cloud water reflections look really better now. Other visuals could be a bit placebo, though. I've also made some changes in the UserCfg, I could keep them during the workaround procedure, when I've set the UserCfg to Read Only. But I'm not yet sure how all these findings fit together.

Sadly, it is a negative. Setting on "ultra", leaving MSFS, returning into the sim and again it looks like low. It seems I have to go into the graphics options each time I fired up MSFS and do the setting switch including "apply & save", otherwise the "ultra" settings do not stay... Hopefully someone knows how to solve this...

Same for me. and this can get old really quickly!

I can now confirm that the settings do not even stick when returning into the main menue. Ridiculous. I did switch some single settings now, it seems that switching buildings alone from ultra to low and back does already help, surprisingly only for the one building in front (as depicted in the screenshots). Still need to find another airport where this effect is visible...

Chris you want to get into a flight, then hit Esc, then choose the low-end render setting and hit Apply, then choose Ultra w/ or w/o edits, and hit apply again, then return to your flight.  This is a simple oversight by Asobo you can rest assured it was no intentional, of course.

Yes, I read that awhile back and that is why I decided not to bother with this fix. Too much of a PIA. This is something Asobo should issue another hot patch for, but I doubt if they will bother. Their focus is not on the PC version, I fear.

As it stands right now, I agree.  Things can always change of course.  MSFS has never stopped changing since RTM.

I am quite confident that with the HUGE amount of complain threads, 3rd party developers included, Asobo has no other alternative but improving what they have degraded in Su5.

Thanks, but I am aware of the workaround 😉 Just wanted to test if it might be due to a single setting alone, which seems not to be the case...
