The thing bothering me most is that I really, really want to have this sharpen off in useropt.cfg. But if I need to switch presets all the time, this always comes back... Next thing I will try if moving a single setting from ultra to medium is already enough, this would at least help with those settings I do not want on ultra, like ambient occlusion...

Greetings, Chris

This is what I got this morning from 12K.  Everything looks flat.  Settings on most everything ULtra.

If this is the case, it could explain why some folks are happy (using medium settings previously) and those who were using ultra are not. Because the ultra setting users are seeing medium?

Certainly seems possible.  They definitely hosed something up in how menu settings are processed.  Between this, and the problems getting aircraft identification to stick, shows that they altered something unintended.

Yes, I just tested it as recommended above and it is the case. I completed a flight earlier today and was disappointed in what I saw not knowing that my settings were medium! How could this get out the door?

But, in a way this is good news as the visuals may have not really been downgraded as it first appeared.

If we have been flying on Medium this must be the "funniest" bug since release XD

I have just reported our findings at the official MSFS forum https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/visuals-dont-stick-on-ultra/432546

I hope I've described it exactly enough. If not, you may correct me over there.

Speak for yourself. Whats the point of stunning visuals if your performance is trash?

He said his PC was upgraded to run MSFS on high settings, so there was no performance problem.

Will test , might be why my performance has being great after hotfix

Is it only ultra texture?

The performance is still much better even when you are on "real" ULTRA textures. But of course, it depends on the hardware too.

I cannot replicate this at all. In other words if I restart the software and start at EGNX on Ultra settings I get the same as Aristoteles picture 2. I can clearly see a degrade when I go to Medium as it looks like picture 1.

Are you sure you haven't got your UserCfg.opt file set to read-only?

p.s. running HDR so getting a screen shot is PITA. But believe me I'm getting Ultra with Ultra settings and with no swapping of settings needed.

Well done for finding and reporting this bug, this could be the glimmer of hope that many of us have been waiting for
