MSFS v 1.18.14.0 should be GROUNDED NOW

Seems more than there's a kind of panic modus meanwhile.

I have had no CTDs or update issues, maybe lucky.

No, the sim should not be grounded as I enjoy it ... and yes, partially also annoyed and frustrated sometimes. But then I stop flying for some days and do other hobbies.

I'm really bored meanwhile from these daily panic threads!

Sorry, rant ends here.

Yet you still open and read them.

I enjoy it too, yet it has problems and the best place to discuss it is down at the local grocery store - sorry, I meant an MSFS forum.

The biggest disappointment for me is the dumbing down of the graphics. The lighting, shadows and textures now look mediocre where before they were superb. It now really does just look like a computer game.

Agreed.  At launch the visuals were stunning, but now not so much.  I can now fly smoothly at 70fps, but I used to fly smoothly at 40fps with no graphical weirdness.  I don't think I ever had a CTD but have had several in the past week.  I fly and look towards distant mountains that used to be pin sharp but are now less so.

Plenty of good stuff like the improved flight model of course.  I hope the visuals at launch reappear over the next few updates as MSFS is overall a good product.

The divergence of opinions about MSFS and the SU5 update is amazing. How can people be viewing the same thing so differently?

I hate to say it, but maybe it's like the current state of politics or attitudes towards getting vaccinated, People are worlds apart.

I, for one, love the game and the new update. And I'll keep my politics to myself.

IMHO we are all suffering from "I have to grump about something itis" Maybe because I'm older than dirt but I could change one work in the title of this thread and have it apply to FS5, FS9, FSX, P3D, etc. I really think the single biggest difficulty in developing a program is when you update or improve, to be sure you don't break something else. This happens every time. And every time, we have a plethora of threads like this until something else arises and we have a new tiopic.

Yes, I notice a visual difference sine SU5 - to me, colors seem washed out, like the bloom was overdone and you have lost contrast. Is it the enbd of the world? Not by a long shot. Hopefully Asobo will plug the holes and have a hotfix available quickly that doesn't break anything else.

After all is said and done, this is a computer program after all with millions of lines of code and one small typo could screw things up.

So, stand up and be counted, add your complaint but be civil about it and move on.

Different setups, different priorities, flying from different airports, using different addons, flying different planes, or just more experience so you notice issues more when you are a hardcore simmer.

Not a problem if you are on an XBox - hint hint.

SU3 was a nightmare and I had to reinstall the sim. SU4 had no fatal problems (for me). SU5 + Hotfix give me CTD approx every second time loading the exact same flight. And TrackIR lose connection with the Sim half a second or so arfter I click Ready to Fly, after messing up the view. Oh, and 2 of my controller setups was lost after SU5 update. What is so frustrating is that every time there is an update to your functioning sim, you HAVE TO update. It is MANDATORY. You're not even allowed to wait until the problems have been fixed. You have a choice of staying away from the Sim for a while, or upgrade it to a beta again..

I'm also one of those "bad" people that think the visual quality we all paid for last year has been partly "stolen" from us.

Must say I'm disappointed.

Frankly I think we wont have a stable game with everything stable and happy for another 2 or 3 years.

I agree with you so must be one of these 'bad' people 🙂

The sim does not look the same as it did at launch.  It may be a bug introduced at some point that will be fixed. It may be the visuals were degraded for the X Box release.  What is a fact is the visuals are just not as good as they were.  I just made a flight over lime green mountains, blurry land and purple haze in the sea.

I have no doubt at all the graphics I had will return at some point though.

Up until SU5 I would fly in MSFS, look out the cockpit  window, and I thought it looked stunning. Have not felt that way since SU5. Now it's just OK, nothing to rave about.

Kind of like real life I guess.

Yes, stunning is what it looks like in real life.

Except that in real life there are things we can do to improve are own lot. With MSFS SU5 we are stuck with it. A dumbed down console game.

I suspect PC simmers like myself who use a recent 4K TV as their monitor are going to fare a bit better with this update at least that has been my experience after going into my TVs advanced display settings.  I now have a display out of the window that isn't washed out and the clouds have realistic shadowing.  Certainly way ahead of anything I have seen in P3D's attempt at volumetric clouds. The tradeoff is that the cockpit panel is a bit dark unless you zoom in closely so proper HDR would certainly help.  My TV has this but I couldn't get it to work in MS2020 without inducing other undesirable visual artifacts - a kind of wavy shimmering effect very noticeable over forested areas. Anyway just my 2 cents worth.

I am not sure what problems exist on Xbox as I haven't tried it on Xbox (hint hint), but what I can tell you is the problems are vast under the covers. I've had a mostly positive outlook overall with MSFS, though there were 2 other patches I considered a bit rough, but this is taking everything to a different level. I have yet to hear a single active developer say anything positive about this patch, and that includes some developers that are almost always positive about the outlook or state of the game, right now - not so much.

It can work and you can fly ---- but it's still riddled with issues. We've all used broken web sites before that worked, or we've hit an old PC with our hands to make the fan stop rattling.
