Well 70% was what the Asobo guy got in the video.

I think that was under optimal conditions and with LOD culling fully enforced, they removed some of the LOD culling enforcement for the PC version at the last minute (they still made LOD changes, they just held back some changes).

Even then, I would guess that most people will not see that much benefit from further LOD enforcement outside of dense city areas. The main FPS number that matters for MSFS is the minimum FPS more than maximum, that can contribute to choppy flying and sometimes stutters. Slightly lower or higher FPS is hard to tell unless you are flying like 300+ close to the ground.

Though, of course higher is better overall, because the higher FPS you get, the more likely your minimum FPS is also averaging higher.

Absolutely. Which was what could be achieved in SU4 by lowering ones setting to taste. And which is my preferred way to set my minimum FPS rather than a mandatory graphics degrade.

Stop giving orders.

People in this forum said that visual downgrades were nonexistent, or even an invention of whiners and paid agents against ASOBO and M$.

So they denied that what we were saying was real.

The devs themselves said that those issues were real and they were working on them.

So the devs proved the deniers wrong.

There is no word twisting.

Live long and prosper.

I must be old, or not up to date with lexicon.   The only Gaslighting I know of....is lighting my Coleman Camping stove for some eats...what does Gaslighting mean, if not that?!?!?!?!   I know, I know, I guess I can look it up....

Post Edit...ok...the following is NOT funny, and I'm aghast!   I won't ever be using this term, in ANY context...wow!

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that's seen in abusive relationships. It's the act of manipulating a person by forcing them to question their thoughts, memories, and the events occurring around them. A victim of gaslighting can be pushed so far that they question their own sanity.Jul. 21, 2020

So if someone is seeing something, you tell them that you deny that what they are seeing is really there making them doubt their own conclusions. Hmmm...

So, to put things in order, we have some facts:

1) the XBox version is announced for 27/7

2) su5 is announced exactly for the same day

3) in su5 they decide to do a lot of optimization. Especially in memory utilization, but not only.

4) su5 has a number of bugs, even ctd's, Lighting is not working ok, a number of other problems.

5) su5 is pushed on ALL users and presented as a great improvement

Now, if we really want to believe that the devs were unaware of all bugs, ctd's, regressions, before users started complaining, then we can believe anything (I am not going to give an example because people around here are offended easily) and we are really insulting the devs. It would also imply believing that the "public" beta testing went smooth without problems, which is, let's say, improbable.

It is only logical to conclude that a buggy, unstable, regressive update (better defined crashdate) was pushed on every user.

Why? Examine facts 1 - 5 and you will know. Suggestion: they had an alternative: wait until the update was ready. They didn't. Why?

Why did they push a compulsory bugged update instead of waiting for a stable, working one?

A.

And that is why after an entire week of madness that  occurred after the downgrade, they decided to fess up ( partially) and tell users that they were working on fixes for the garbage they loaded into our sim.

Yup, did the same thing and thought: 'jeez, are people still actually banging on about this?'

Try  reading a different thread. 😋

I am not going to be commenting much on the next fix either way, I am more enthusiastic about SU 6 than this next hotfix. The one good thing that may have come out of this is for Asobo to realize that visuals are # 1 for a number of people, even if not everyone. They will likely work harder to accommodate both crowds.

I hope the graphics can be cranked up so high that there is a way to reduce the aerial compression and that they also increase the fidelity of the blend textures (fat chance, but that's, my hope). That would be a lot bigger improvement than anything we've seen, also some changes to mountain anti-aliasing and pop-in.

I want sliders that bring my 2080 to its knees, I need to see settings that are so high they are unplayable, and to where I need a GPU that doesn't exist yet.

Yes, it sounds similar doesn't it? Except you are not allowed to use the "g" word.

Why? Because the "g" word has been associated to a universally acknowledged bad practice: that of trying to convince people whose claims you do not accept that they are delusional, are seeing things that are not really there, are making them up for some reason.

Then, when someone defines what you are doing (exactly what is described above) with the "g" world, since this is not good, you say that the "g" word is not appropriate in this circumstance.

Explanation: there are people who think that they are always right, and when you show that they are not, they redefine words thinking that semantics trumps reality. Next step, after this one fails, is to change reality itself: deny that anyone ever said what we all remember (it is already happening). And so on.

An interesting social experiment, because this is exactly what we see happening right now in the Western World.

Cheers

The best way to handle it is to skip the posts and move on (not ignore button, but just skip over it), but I know its hard to do. If you do that, some of them start spamming or just make really contradictory posts. Anyhow, none of it matters, we need to focus on the Sim not this "as the world churns" drama.

Well 70% was what the Asobo guy got in the video.

The root of the probelm with this update for me is..

They showed us a NY video showing anything from 50% to almost 100% gains in FPS it seemed to work out around 70% gain. But hey lets call it 50% to be "safe"

What we got was around 15%-22% Great, thats still great and I am very greatful for, Also they said it was super smooth and yes it is, again its a wonderfull gain to have. Also I want the sim to run really well on old/low end PC, Simming should never be a willy waveing contest. I hate elitism. So I want everyone to be able to run the sim and both above help a lot. ALL GOOD

But and its a HUGE but....

If we simply got the above, everyone would have been OK with it, not as good as we hoped but still great. But no they broke so many things, it starts with there very own list of HF, the list on top of that is very long, AF/setting not sticking/Airports history not listed/menu so slow/ O man the list is so long........

So the shine we all could have enjoyed was taken away my the list of things they broke... now we are waiting for them to return the sim to pre SU5 looks and menus and all the other boo they broke so we can get back to what SU5 should have been about better FPS and smoothness, Nothing else.

Its the most frustrating update IMO that we have ever had. Made worse by so many thing, Robert at PMDG has said one of the pre SU5 beta's made the PMDG DC-6 performance huge and the last min Asobo pulled it!!

O well, hopefull come the HF today or monday and another month of waiting we might get back to pre SU5 with only the gains we were all looking forward to.

If the team feel a bit demolished then then please look at the bigger picture, yes you did a wonderfull job, but you got let down by your very own people braking so many things, that overshadows what was so good. You shot yourself in the foot.

Everything I have found broke i have taken screenshots of , not just female doged about it but showed others to test repeat. Thats one person within one week, could have report to you so many things broken, but hey am not a beta tester nore will I ever be. But come one guys I find it hard that these things were not reported. I am not blaming the beta testers becasue I belive the fault is not with them. The fault seem more what Asobo did with the info, and somone said go ahead with SU5, really! who made that call? thats were the finger for me is pointing.

So dont be demolished, your still doing a great job, its still the best sim we have, but you really need to learn a lot by the SU5. Please dont repeat. And stop shooting yourself in the foot.

am sure your right. But Asobo gets the fall out and someone there should stand up and have the balls to say NO we need to wait, release the Xbox on time ofc but they should have looked very hard and long at what we should of got on that date.
