My Biggest sim install EVER !

Featured Replies

@ 152 GB Standard Edition with all of the World Updates and three payware addons ( PMDG Dc-6,  FlyByWire Bell 47B and Carenado Seminole ), MFS is the biggest single simulator install EVER in my sim life, and this includes X-Plane with some SimHeaven and Ortho sceneries and DCS World ...

Never thought ( some 20 years ago ) it would get this BIG !

Mainly used for the wonderful / unique scenery around the whole Earth, which I know very faintly IRL having travelled very few times and to just a few places out of my beloved Portugal 🙂

Planning to start a World Tour in the dc-6, but first I really have to know how to deal with that Celestial Navigation add-on and study the operational details of this beauty 🙂

When MS FLIGHT was released and I fell in love with it, I dreamed about one day MS agreeing to extend the scenery areas rapidly towards a full World coverage. Then there was that late mod that allowed to use the FSX scenery with it, but it was too late, and MS FLIGHT's fate was already a fact 😕

I just hope MFS isn't just another MS FLIGHT !

Haha, I know what you mean.  My first ms flightsim came on two floppies and we had no internet either.

No hard drive and 512 kb of RAM was enough to run it on an old 14 inch portable CRT TV.

Yeah, actually I remember seeing it running for the first time in an AMIGA, early eighties of the last Century 😁

How long will MSFS stay in your hard disk this time? 😅

My msfs is on a dedicated 1TB M2 drive.  With all my addons, I've used half of that drive up.  Luckily, I have a spare 250 GB SSD still connected to store some of the addons I'm not using if the 1 TB drive does get full.

W10 and all my other programs and data are on another 250 GB SSD.

Same here - bought a 1TB M2 where I have Win 10 and MFS... I never did this before :-/ - always had my sims on a different partition, and even disk. Actually the other times I installed MFS it was that way, but I did notice that since I install it on C: it updates flawlessly, while before I usually had the sim becoming wonky after some updates...

I have another 500 M2 reserved for other flight simulators :-) and an image of MFS disk1 that is permanently mounted.

So far so good :-)

Oliver, not even I can answer such a pertinent question... 🤣

We are way past that now. Everything is pointing to MS being in it for the long haul.

You can relive those days by playing the sim in a web browser today.

Let's hope everybody learned their lesson, including the community.

Yeah........

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Ouch !

That is tempting for an uninstaller 🤩

*hides 4TB external disk full of custom orthos*     Nothing to see here, officer, nothing to see.

(My 2TB flight sim drive (now only for MSFS) has 1.6TB used, 320 of that is parallel MS Store and Steam installs, 700GB is addons, the rest is a bunch of random crud like Shadowplay recordings of my sim sessions and some downloaded zips that I need to move to cold storage and off the SSD, but I've been lazy because there's still some room.)

In the 600G range still just on a single 1TB M.2.   I do have 2x1TB regular SSDs and a 6TB hard drive (full of X-Plane scenery - havent had the heart to uninstall that yet, tho ironically the game itself is uninstalled atm).

Just finished the process of downloading every semi-decent addon under "landmarks" on flightsim.to.  Avoiding the large area PG google dumps (dont like them when they still have the baked in PG trees), but tons of awesome castles, towers, ocean piers, telescope/observatories, bridges, city buildings etc.  Lots of great examples from creators iike mv46, skell300, Jeppson2001, droide and many others. There's nothing more fun than doing random countryside flights, esp in Europe in the H135/145 and just 'discovering' things.
