Since the issue might have been somewhere in the Windows file structure, or registry - does anyone know a way to verify a Windows 10 installation that actually finds broken files and replaces or repairs them? Is there a built in feature? Or a tool you can use? It would be handy, so people don't have to re-install Windows completely when an MSFS update goes sideways. Not everyone has a dedicated flight simulator computer, so there would be a very big job of re-installation of absolutely everything. There must be an easier way. I don't have this issue myself (knock on wood), but lots of people are dealing with it. Here's how to use the system file checker tool: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e There is more to it than just running sfc /scannow ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.
September 9, 20214 yr The peculiar thing about this stuttering problem, which for me started after World Update 6, is that it happens only on the ground, on takeoffs and landings. Once in flight, it is absolutely smooth with FPS locked at 60 and no stutters. It is very hard to believe that this could be a Windows issue -- discriminating between ground and air? Moreover, if there is a problem with Win 10, why would it affect only MSFS, and then only in this very specific way? I don't buy that. But I (and imagine many others) am open to suggestions.
September 9, 20214 yr Same here.. two flights so far after the update and I get stutters on the ground (where I never had them). Basically, I get continuous jerks and pauses while taxiing. Now, when I push in the throttle and make my takeoff run - no more stutters. Smooth in the air also. Randall Rocke
September 9, 20214 yr I too am suffering an identical experience. I love WU6. It looks wonderful and the performance is outstanding -- except on the ground at certain airports. I landed a few minutes ago in Frankfurt, Germany. The entire flight was completely smooth. The landing, however, caused repeated stuttering on the ground that didn't occur until WU6. September 9, 20214 yr Author Do you think deleting the WU6 content in the Content Manager would help the stutters on the ground?
September 9, 20214 yr Gentlemen, I have located the problem. It's the photogrammetry. Turn it off, and the ground-stutters disappear! This makes sense because the improved photogrammetry, which now makes things look so much better near ground level, evidently impacts performance on the ground, even in non-photogrammetry areas. So for now, my work-around is to start a flight with photogrammetry off, and then turn it on if I am flying in a photogrammetry area (otherwise no need). I expect this can and will be fixed with a patch at some point. But at least we know what's causing it. Edited September 9, 20214 yr by cobalt

If that's truly the case, would suggest posting on the official forums and opening a ticket Poor performance on the ground - Bugs & Issues / Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums Also wanted to ask whether you've deleted / refreshed any rolling / static cache - that seemed to cause issues with PG and mesh too.
September 9, 20214 yr Thanks for the link -- will do. I have never used rolling cache, so for me that was not an issue. Update: I just checked the Bugs & Issues forum and discovered that others have come to the same conclusion: it's the photogrammetry. I am sure this will be fixed soon. I only turn photogrammetry on occasionally, and I haven't tried it in quite a while. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). Your power failure are frequent, if so then I advise you to invest in a mini inverter. That will save you a lot of trouble. The strange thing is that I had violent stutter even though I turned off all online activity and photogrammetry before I reinstalled my computer, even at lowest graphical settings, so the problem was probably something else for me, because now I can pan around at full speed in external view without a hint of stutter, and that with everything at ultra.
